A little reminder that cash is still very much welcome around here 🤎
With changes coming around card surcharges, there’s been lots of conversation about what this means for small businesses and the extra costs we absorb behind the scenes.
For my Memory Co families though, nothing is changing. 🤎 Our prices aren’t increasing because of this, and there’s nothing you need to do differently.
We’ll simply be encouraging fee-free payment options wherever we can. Bank transfer is always welcome, and yep… good old-fashioned cash is VERY welcome too. Cash is still king 👑
And to all my fellow small business owners constantly adapting, recalculating and figuring out the next thing… hang in there. Running a small business certainly keeps us on our toes. 😂
Here’s to supporting local, supporting small, and keeping more of our hard-earned dollars in our own communities. 🤎

I have no photos of my kids and me.
That's what Shannon told me when she booked. No newborn photos. No maternity photos. Never had the chance to capture those moments. So somewhere along the way she'd become the one always behind the lens, never in front of it like most Mums.
She had one worry going in: how do you get nice photos of kids who just don't sit still? Lily's three, Hazel's one, and neither of them do "still."
We started slow normal, squishy warm-up poses while the girls got used to me. Then once they were comfortable, we let it open right up. Games, movement, chasing, laughing. Big brown eyes, dark hair, the most adorable chubby cheeks on that little one. A genuinely easygoing, connected family, just being themselves in gorgeous autumn sunset light.
Her message after seeing the gallery: "We had such a wonderful time and you somehow made the kids have their best smiles on."
No more empty space where mum should be. Just a family, finally all in the frame together.

"Our kids are crazy. Typical farm kids. Not always wanting to cooperate or get along, but are protective of each other if need be."
That's how Kita described her family before I even met them. Six kids a blended family capturing new beginnings.
When I pulled up to the farm, some of the kids were already out the front jumping on the trampoline, yelling hello, completely themselves. They'd been expecting me.
We walked down to a flat by the creek and did the safe shots first. Then things got real. Mid running-race, one of the boys picked up three-year-old Isla and dropped her. Tears. A wobble. And then straight back into it, happy as ever.
Because that's what this family does. They fall, they get back up, and they keep going together.
As requested by the kids we finished with the motorbikes. Portraits on their bikes, then action shots on the dirt track monos, dust flying, big energy. And little Isla, on her tiny pink bike, stealing the whole show.
No sunset that day — just soft, overcast light turning the farm every shade of green.
Kita loved her images so much she took them all and some prints for her wall.
And there's some exciting changes coming for this family soon — so don't be surprised if we see them again before too long. New beginnings, indeed.

"I've always wanted to arrange family photos but was never sure where to start."
That was Louise. In the space of one year, she'd gotten married, welcomed her daughter Charlotte, and bought her first home. Three of the biggest chapters a life can hand you, all at once. And she wanted one photo to mark it something for the hallway, to hang alongside her wedding photos. A record of where it all started.
We met at St Kilda Beach my favourite spot for sunset sessions when I'm in Melbourne. Golden light, that beautiful soft sand, the kind of evening that does half the work for you.
Charlotte, about to turn one, did not stop moving the entire session. Crawling through the sand, exploring everything, completely in her own world. Laid back parents, an easy going family, the kind of session where you're just chatting and laughing and forget you're even working.
Louise's message when she saw her gallery: "Oh my God, amazing. I can't believe it was so quick. They are stunning. How do you still have to edit them? They are perfect."
A hallway wall, a wedding photo, and now this. The beginning of their story, all in one place.

A young, down-to-earth family, a first baby, an easy afternoon of laughing and squishing chubby cheeks and beautiful images to prove it happened. No long brief. No Pinterest board of poses. Just two young people who wanted their little family captured, simply and honestly.
From the moment we met up, it was easy. Genuinely fun. The kind of session where the conversation just flows and you forget you're even working we chatted, we laughed, and bub just did his thing in between. And what a thing he was doing the chunkiest, chubbiest little bundle, the kind of cheeks you physically cannot resist squishing.
Abbygail wanted two images out of this one of the three of them together, front and centre in her lounge room, and one of bub all on his own. Nothing complicated. Just the family she's building, up on her wall, where she'll see it every single day.
Sometimes the simplest sessions are the sweetest ones.

She called him chicken nugget before she knew if she'd get to bring him home.
Ollie arrived at 30 weeks, weighing 1.4 kilos. And for the first two months of his life, his mum and dad sat beside his hospital bed — waiting. Willing him to be strong enough to come home.
And when Ollie turned one, Sabrina booked a session to mark it. Not just his birthday. One year of being a family. One year of making it through something that could have broken them. One year of Ollie.
We headed out into the golden autumn light and did what we do. We brought a cupcake, a rainbow balloon, a little party hat. Dad demonstrated how to eat a cupcake many, many times haha. Ollie watched, deeply unimpressed, and mushed it in his hands instead. Mum ended up painting icing on his face with her fingers.
The rainbow balloon got away during setup. Just floated right up into the sky.
And right at the end Ollie decided he wanted to play with the blue number one balloon. He looked up at it. And that was the shot.
Sometimes the universe edits your session for you. Sometimes the plan flying away is exactly the point.
Sab messaged me after she got her gallery download and said they were in awe. That they couldn't wait to display and share them.
She bought every single one.
Because when you've spent two months beside a hospital crib waiting for your baby to come home — you don't leave a single frame behind.

My happy place is turning yellow again 🌼💛
And NEXT WEEK I get to go play out there with my camera again. YAYYYYY 🙌
There’s just something about canola season that gets me every single year.
The colour. The light. The wide open space. Kids running through the paddocks. That ridiculous golden glow when the sun starts dropping. ✨
Give me a gorgeous family, a field of yellow and a camera and I am one very happy photographer. 😂📸
I’ve been waiting all year for this.
Canola season… I’M READY FOR YOU. 🌼💛
