Just updating on the EJ/EH METAL PREMIER CONSOLES.

Unfortunately life gets in the way & my Carpet Cleaning business has died off drastically resulting in having to look for a job. I’m now working on a fifo job that has me working away from home for long periods of time but on my time off I’ll be getting what I can do done to finish getting things set up to start reproducing them.

Kind regards

Paolo

Update on making up EJ/EH PREMIER CONSOLES. Since my first post of fabricating a copy of the console & the first one I made from tracing paper templates of the brown bare shell console & tack welded together I decided that I had to look at eliminating all that time of hand cutting each piece & needed a faster process. So I spoke with a 3D scanning business to 3D scan the brown console to create a flat pack kit for me to assemble.
The 4 you see here from left to right are;
1) Original console.
2) First console made from paper templates.
3) Second console made from 3D scanning the brown console & assembling the laser cut flat pack.
4) my original complete Premier console that I’ve been told is out of a EJ Premier.
A little bit more tweaking on the 3D program needs to be done.
The 3D printed one I shaped & tacked together today in approximately 6hrs. The first one I made took me about 5 days from paper templates to tacking together so huge difference in time by 3D printing & getting it laser cut out.
I’m also looking at getting one designed to suit a bench seat setup.
Now what would the interest be if I were make both of these to sell & what’s your thoughts on leaving holes cut or uncut for stainless trim & side pads but have holes cut out for switch & mounting. Look forward to the feedback.
These are made from 1.1mm Zincanneal coated sheat metal & I can epoxy seal also.

Kind regards
Paolo

Yesterday (Saturday) I had no idea that I would spend approximately 11hrs with an iconic Australian drag racer helping John Zappia from Zappia Racing out of a problem. John had blown a total of 4 engines up to yesterday afternoon leaving him with no engines to rebuild for Sunday’s race that he qualified for. I was able to talk to him at his pits which he had explained to me what had happened & his only option was to repair the billet block for Sunday’s qualifying in the morning, but he didn’t have a tig welder to do the repair. I offered him to use mine but as I explained to him that I live in Toowoomba. So once he organised his pit crew John, Sam who is one of his mechanics & myself drove to my place to attempt to repair the block. Sam & myself started to clean the block while John used my lathe to machine up a tool for the repair & I got the Tig set up for John to start welding only to find out that the cylinder of Argon that we brought with us was empty & suggested that we take my Tig & oxy set back with us to Willowbank & if he could get a cylinder from one of the other teams.
We packed up headed back with phone calls being made back to his team to chase up everything that was needed to get this done. By the time we arrived back everything was organised. John & one of his mechanics Aaron started the repair & I at first just stayed out of there way & just helped when I could & they were more than happy to allow me to do so. By 3.30am Sunday morning the repair was done & a damaged sleeve removed & replace ready for the rebuild. This isn’t something that happens to everyone let alone me but this experience & opportunity I will grateful for the rest of my life. I know that John won his first race this morning in Top door Slammers & I think he finished 4th overall for the Winter Nationals not a bad effort for a team that had blown 4 engines by Saturday & qualifying for Sunday & being able to get it done. The Zappia team never gives up 👏 👏👏👏👏👏

I got back onto my EH Premier console today & first I remade 2 sections & then started tack welding it together. I’d really like to get it Tig welded up. I’ve got an idea for reproducing the 3 pieces of stainless trim & will post updates on this.

The one in the middle is my first attempt at making one the other 2 are my originals that I didn’t want to cut out a hole for a gear stick. I’m not selling either of my originals. I’m going away next week & I’m taking the brown one and the one that I’ve made to show my brother in law who owns a engineering business & talk to him about getting them to design it up on the computer and plasma cutting a few sets up for me to piece together. Also talk to him about pricing of all of this. It going to have to be made in about 8 pieces .
