Thank you to the hundreds of people who walked the walk for mental health!

Even though today marked the 13th time we’ve hosted the Wellness Walk, each year we’re blown away by your incredible support. Whether you participated, donated or volunteered, your support helps us take meaningful steps forward to achieving our goals of raising mental health awareness, celebrating connection, and showing solidarity for people experiencing mental health challenges throughout Australia.

A special thanks to our amazing guests and sponsors who helped make today possible: Her Excellency Margaret Beazley AC KC (Governor of NSW), the team at NSW Government House, Lundbeck Australia, Otsuka Australia Pharmaceutical, Bluescale IT and Pont3. See you next year!

Cloudy and a top of 27C is the current weather forecast for Sunday – near-perfect conditions for a walk over Sydney Harbour Bridge!

The weather can be unpredictable, but rest assured the Wellness Walk will proceed rain or shine (unless there’s a severe weather warning). Here’s your checklist to ensure you get the most out of your walk:
🟠 Cash-free event - contactless payment options will be available
🟠 Be sun safe – bring a hat and don’t forget to slip, slop, slap your sunscreen
🟠 Bring a water bottle – water will be available at the finish line, so make sure your bottle is full!
🟠 No cloakroom – there are no storage facilities at the event, so pack light and keep your belongings with you
🟠 As much as we love our four-legged friends this is a pet-free event.

See you on Sunday!

Today is R U OK? Day – our annual reminder that every day is the day to check in on our friends, families and colleagues and ask “are you OK?”

Going for a walk with someone is a great opportunity to start a conversation and check in on how they are going. Not only do you both benefit from being physically active, walking with someone else can also help to overcome feelings of isolation and loneliness, making it easier to connect with each other and have an open conversation.

Our Story

The Wellness Walk is the creation of Larry Smith. Larry started up the Wellness Walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge after going to New York and participating in the NAMI Walks over the Brooklyn Bridge in support of mental health and fighting stigma. The NAMI Walk now takes place in more than 80 locations across the USA.

This year more than 50,000 people in more than 85 communities across the USA will walk in support of mental health. The NAMI Walk has grown exponentially, ours is just beginning.

Why walk across Sydney Harbour Bridge?

Crossing Sydney Harbour Bridge signifies bridging the gap by moving from stigma to understanding. Gathering together shows community support, union and care to anyone who is suffering. The act of walking reflects that living with mental illness is a step-by-step, one-step-at-a-time process.
