The Australian Production Design Guild was established in 2009 as a non-profit organisation that aims to:
- Represent designers and their associates in screen, live performance, events and digital production across Australia.
- Recognise and nurture excellence in design through awards, mentoring and accreditation.
- Raise the profile of stage and screen design and facilitate a vibrant design community. The APDG requests that all those that engage with the Australian Production Design Guild page abide by the following code of conduct:
1. Treat everyone with respect, fairness and courtesy and without harassment of any kind.
2. Support the aims and values of the APDG. The APDG will remove any posts or comments that do not align with the above. In addition to this: Information and images supplied to the APDG must be supplied with the copyright holder or holders’ permission granted for display on the APDG Facebook. The APDG will remove information and images from the APDG Facebook that has been uploaded who do not hold the relevant copyright holder or holders’ permission.
All APDG members are invited to attend the APDG AGM online on Tuesday October 27, 2026 at 7:30pm AEDT.

Interested in sustainability? Or how AI is being used? The APDG has several sub-committees and working groups that explore the changes and challenges in the screen and live performance industries. The Screen and Live Performance sub-committees invite members to their quarterly meetings.

The APDG relies on the generosity of our members to share their time, insights and skills in expanding the guild in operational roles. These roles can be shared or managed by individuals and focus on the specific needs of the guild, including education, advocacy, fundraising, graphic design and sharing information. If you have practical skills to share, we'd love to hear from you!

As a national organisation, the APDG State Liaison positions were established to ensure that members are being represented nationally. The APDG aims to have a live performance and screen representative in each state. The state liaisons are also integral to supporting the APDG through knowledge and assistance at a local level.

The APDG invite you to nominate for a position on the APDG governing body – the National Executive. The National Executive aims to represent our members both nationally and across all industry sectors. Your involvement can help make the National Executive strong, diverse and representative. All positions are voluntary, and the guild works around members’ work and other commitments. Please consider nominating and contributing to governance of your guild.

The APDG is creating a new online gallery to showcase and sell original artworks by members. From paintings and sketches to sculpture and jewellery, if it’s yours, we can help sell it. Want your art featured? We are seeking 10 people to join the trial to help shape the gallery from the start.

Following an open call, the APDG is thrilled to announce Christina Smith as Curator of Australia's Exhibitions at the Prague Quadrennial 2027. The panel was impressed by her inclusive and original approach. Keep an eye out for the 2027 call out.
