Unarmed Hindu Heroes on duty who saved 100s of lives:

NEERJA BHANOT (7 September 1963 – 5 September 1986) was an Punjabi Hindu flight attendant. On 5 September 1986, she saved a large number of passengers aboard Pan Am Flight 73, which had been hijacked by four Palestinian militants belonging to the Abu Nidal Organization during a stopover at Karachi Airport in Pakistan. Around 17 hours into the standoff, Neerja was shot and killed by the hijackers while helping the passengers escape from the aircraft. Posthumously, Neerja became the first female recipient and the youngest recipient of the Ashoka Chakra, the highest peacetime gallantry award of India. She also received the Tamgha-e-Insaniyat, the fourth-highest civilian award of Pakistan, in addition to other accolades.

Tukaram Gopal Omble (c. 1954 – 27 November 2008) was an Indian police officer. He was martyred during the 26/11 attacks, at Girgaon Chowpatty in Mumbai. The Indian government posthumously honoured Omble on 26 January 2009 with the Ashoka Chakra, the country's highest peacetime military award. On 26 November, 2008, he was guarding a checkpoint when he was approached by Ajmal Kasab (who was wearing a Kalawa), and feigned surrender. Omble approached him unarmed, Kasab opened fire. Omble stood in front of him and held on to the barrel of Kasab's r***e and took 12 bullets, which prevented the bullets from injuring anyone else apart from Omble, who died due to this action. Kasab was subsequently apprehended by the rest of Omble's team.

Today's world hero SMIT MACHCHHAR is a Gujarati Hindu from Mumbai and an Indian commercial airline captain who flies for Flydubai. On 30 September 2026 he was captain of Flydubai Flight 1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv when his co-pilot stabbed him in the cockpit during what Israeli officials described as an apparent attempt to crash the aircraft. Despite serious wounds he resisted, unlocked the cockpit door, and helped passengers and crew overpower the attacker. The Boeing 737 Max then made an emergency landing at Tabuk in northwestern Saudi Arabia. All passengers survived. He is a former SpiceJet training captain with extensive Boeing 737 experience. An Indian Hindu pilot became the world’s hero today. Capt Smit Machchhar, a Gujarat-born aviator, was stabbed in the cockpit of a Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv yet he fought off his co‑pilot, kept control of the aircraft and saved around 180 lives.

Who is Smit Machchhar, the Indian captain at the centre of the Flydubai FZ1073 incident?
A former SpiceJet pilot, Machchhar joined Flydubai in 2022 as a direct-entry captain. He was reportedly stabbed during the cockpit confrontation after the aircraft began a sharp descent, before the flight was diverted and landed safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. The incident remains under investigation, with authorities examining exactly what happened inside the cockpit.

Shubh Radha Ashtami to everybody 🙏
Radha Ashtami is commemorated as birth anniversary of Goddess Radha, the consort of Lord Krishna. It falls on Ashtami Tithi during Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month. Devotees keep fast on Radha Ashtami day. Goddess Radha is worshipped during Madhyahna Kala which is noon time according to Hindu division of the day. Currently Radha Ashtami falls in the month of August or September in English calendar.

The festival of Shri Radha Ashtami is celebrated with great fervor in the Braj region, especially in Barsana. On this occasion, a grand celebration is organized at the Shri Ladli Ji Maharaj Temple in Barsana, which includes the Abhishekam and special worship of Shri Radha.

Radha Ashtami is also known as Radhashtami and Radha Jayanti.

Radha Ashtami Vrat Vidhi
According to the description found in the Brihannaradiya Purana, observing the Radha Ashtami Vrat with the following procedure yields special spiritual merit.

First, after completing your daily morning rituals such as bathing, wear clean and pure clothes.
Then, inside a sanctified area or Mandapa, create a sacred Mandala and establish an earthen or copper Kalasha at its center.
Place a copper plate over the Kalasha and install a golden idol of Goddess Radharani on it.
Cover the idol with two new garments.
Thereafter, during the Madhyahna Kala, worship Radharani with the complete Shodashopachara ritual and devotion.
Observe a full-day fast as per your capacity. If unable to do so, observe a Ekabhukta Vrat ,i.e., single-meal fast.
On the following day, serve meals lovingly to Married Women
Then, offer the worshipped idol as a donation to an Acharya and conclude the vrat by partaking a meal with your family.
Thus, the procedure for the Shri Radha Ashtami vrat as described in the Brihannaradiya Purana is concluded.

It is believed that Lord Ganesh was born during Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month. Currently Ganesh Chaturthi day falls in month of August or September in English calendar.

The Ganeshotsav, the festivity of Ganesh Chaturthi, ends after 10 days on Anant Chaturdashi which is also known as Ganesh Visarjan day. On Anant Chaturdashi, devotees immerse idol of Lord Ganesh in water body after a gala street procession.

Ganapati Sthapana and Ganapati Puja Muhurat
Ganesh Puja is preferred during Madhyahna as it is believed that Lord Ganesh was born during Madhyahna Kala. Madhyahna Kala is equivalent to midday according to Hindu division of the day.

As per Hindu time-keeping, the time duration between sunrise to sunset is divided into five equal parts. These five parts are known as Pratahkala, Sangava, Madhyahna, Aparahna and Sayankal. Ganapati Sthapana and Ganapati Puja on Ganesha Chaturthi are done during Madhyahna part of the day and as per Vedic astrology it is considered the most appropriate time for Ganesha Puja.

During midday, Ganesha devotees perform detailed ritualistic Ganesha Puja which is known as Shodashopachara Ganapati Puja.
