🌿 Spring Cleaning at Ar Rukun Mosque 🌿

Our masjid is the House of Allah and a place we all share — for ṣalāh, Qur’an, learning, gatherings and the strengthening of our community. Caring for it, keeping it clean and helping to maintain it is a simple but meaningful form of service to the dīn.

Allah ﷻ says:
﴿ إِنَّمَا يَعْمُرُ مَسَاجِدَ اللَّهِ مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ ﴾
“The mosques of Allah are maintained by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day…”
[Surah At-Tawbah 9:18]

The Prophet ﷺ also gave special attention to the person who used to clean the masjid. When he ﷺ learned that the person had passed away, he asked about them and went to pray over their grave — reminding us that even work which may seem small, such as cleaning and caring for the masjid, is valuable in the sight of Allah.

We will be doing a general spring clean and maintenance of the masjid and its surroundings. Please bring along any useful cleaning materials or tools if you are able to.

🍽️ Lunch will be provided.
Whether you can stay for the whole morning or simply lend a hand for a short while, every contribution helps. It is also a wonderful opportunity for our children and families to develop a sense of responsibility and attachment to the masjid.

May Allah accept it as a sadaqah from everyone who contributes and make our masjid a place that is clean, welcoming and beloved to our community. آمين.

On Monday, we attended the launch of How Can the Healing Begin? – Islamophobia, Anti-Semitism and Social Cohesion after Bondi, authored by Australia's Special Envoy to Combat Islamophobia, Mr Aftab Malik.

Hosted by Australian Islamic College, Forrestdale, the event brought together community leaders, educators, and government representatives to discuss the challenges of Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, and social cohesion, while exploring practical pathways towards greater understanding, inclusion, and respectful engagement across Australia's diverse communities.

The publication marks the first release in the OSECI Occasional Papers series, delivering evidence-based research into contemporary Islamophobia and its impact on Australian society, together with practical recommendations for building a more inclusive and cohesive nation.

We extend our sincere thanks to Executive Principal/CEO Mr Abdullah Khan, and Australian Islamic College, Forrestdale for hosting this important initiative and facilitating meaningful dialogue that strengthens understanding and unity across our communities.

On Tuesday, the Western Australian Police Commissioner Col Blanch APM hosted the annual Muslim Community Morning Tea, bringing together representatives from a wide range of Muslim communities and organisations across the state.

One of the key messages shared was that the relationship between the community and the police is a partnership. An example given was that of a bridge being built from opposite ends, with both sides working towards meeting in the middle. In the same way, both the community and law enforcement have a role to play in building trust, understanding, and a safe society for all.

At Ar Rukun Mosque, we are grateful for the positive relationship we have developed with the WA Police over the years. We have always found them approachable and supportive, and we are also proud that some members of our own community serve within the police force. These relationships help strengthen mutual understanding and demonstrate that working together benefits the wider community.

We thank Commissioner Col Blanch AMP and WA Police Cultural Engagement & Events Division (CEED) for hosting this gathering and for their continued engagement with the diverse communities of Western Australia.
