Round 2 ended as a forfeit from Thornlie so we are straight into Round 3, taking place at Darling Range Sports College tomorrow for a 11:45am kick off.

Shaping up to be a preview for the Grand Final later in the term. Our boys are ready to make a statement and remain undefeated.

Good luck boys! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Schoolboys Cup kicks off this afternoon at 5pm with our first round matchup taking place at Lark Hill Sports Complex against Baldivis Secondary College. An exciting opportunity with the start of an official senior competition in 2026 with potential to advance further interstate.

Come down and support the school team if you can. Good luck to all boys named to play! ๐Ÿ™Œ

A great first week back for Term 2, with both our Year 7/8 and Year 9/10 Rugby League 9-a-side carnivals taking place ๐Ÿ‰

The carnivals followed a round-robin format against multiple schools, leading into a finals series later in the year.

For our Year 7 boys, this was their first opportunity to play together as a team and begin building combinations. After opening the day with a draw, they reflected, adjusted, and improved each game โ€” finishing 1st overall. A fantastic first achievement ๐Ÿ‘

Our Year 8s started strongly but battled fatigue as the day progressed due to limited numbers. They finished 4th overall, taking valuable lessons from the day and identifying key areas to work on throughout the term.

Our Year 9 and 10 teams faced strong competition but used their experience and teamwork to remain undefeated (with a few draws along the way), both finishing 1st overall ๐Ÿ’ช

A strong start to the term with plenty to build on moving forward. Well done to all players!

Before we get into an incredibly busy term for our Rugby League Academy. Iโ€™d like to congratulate the following Rockingham students for being selected into the inaugural Perth Bears Tracks Academy squad.

Ben Cottam (graduated 2025)
Cooper Crockett
Eden Serjeant
Hunter Te Kiri
Kolbi Garnaut
Raiden Tumai-Totorewa
Zac Kirk
Zane Murray

Out of 20 players selected in total, it is incredible to have 8 RSHS students invited to take part in this elite pathway opportunity. A great representation of the talent we have in our school community, with potential for more to be invited in the future.

Goes to show that hard work pays off. These boys have finished their first training block this week and are now bringing back valuable skills and higher standards to their clubs and our schoolboys competitions.

Very well deserved and we canโ€™t wait to see how they all develop as players and young men this year. A lesson learnt in their first session: Talent opens the door, your effort and character keeps you there.

Our first Schoolgirls Rugby League Carnival for the year. A chance to gain some game day experience and have a bit of fun. Our Rockingham girls were great! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Last week on Friday, our Year 10 boys and girls spent the day being referees for the RASSA League Tag Carnival.

The class had previously participated in the Beyond the Goal Post referee course and used this event as practical experience towards becoming qualified referees.

It was very hot and humid conditions, with students taking turns to referee games all day. We are very proud of their incredible efforts with positive feedback throughout the day. Our students were even surprised how enjoyable and rewarding refereeing can be in the end.

Well done Year 10 on setting the standard for the RSHS Rugby League Academy.

As we begin to wrap up Term 1, 2026, hereโ€™s a quick update from the Rugby League Academy. ๐Ÿ‘‡

Itโ€™s been a fantastic start to the year, with girls now introduced across all year groups. Everyone has been training hard, building combinations, and developing both fundamental and game-based skills, just in time for the kickoff of the NRL WA Schoolboys competition and upcoming boysโ€™ and girlsโ€™ carnivals.

Year 7 will continue their developmental season, with their first 9-a-side carnival for the boys scheduled for Term 2.

Our Year 8โ€“10 boys begin their season in Round 1 against Darling Range on Monday of Week 9. Itโ€™s an exciting milestone for our Year 8s, who will play their first 13-a-side match together.

Unfortunately, the Year 9 fixture has been cancelled due to a Darling Range forfeit. However, many of these players will step up to support the Year 10 squad, who will be without several players due to RISE trial game commitments.

Our Rugby League girls will also take the field in their first carnival on Tuesday of Week 9. A great opportunity to demonstrate the skills theyโ€™ve been developing in the program.

Itโ€™s shaping up to be a big year in 2026, with plenty of opportunities to showcase Rockingham talent following a hugely successful 2025 season. Thereโ€™s a lot to look forward to. Thank you for your continued support, and stay tuned! ๐Ÿ™Œ
