SSG MultiSports
Ocean swimmers & multisport athletes who love spending time together. OWS at Suttons Wed & Fri 6:00am or 6.30am & Sun 7am.
Non-club members, ‘come & try’ openwater supported swims are held on Sundays only with our Swim Captains.
Sunshine Coast 70.3.
SSG Multisports members spent the weekend in Mooloolaba, from the expo and the club tent through to a wetsuit group ready for the ocean swim. Plenty of club kit around the 70.3 arch, and a proud crew under the blue marquee.
Well done everyone who raced, and thanks to those who travelled to cheer.

Wednesday morning and wonderful conditions to start the swim, though the wind popped up for the return from glass house.
Conditions can change so quickly, but at least it was a southerly. At least visibility remained a three.
Congratulations to Caitlin on completing her first glass house swim and her second swim in the sea.

Monday morning and level 3 visibility.
A good roll up to enjoy pretty good conditions.
Sad to see a dead turtle on the beach.

🍒💣 CHERRY BOMB 💣🍒
Our Ninja Amy Parikka claimed 2nd in category in the Enduro Solo Female Open at Swimrun Australia Gold Coast!
Foggy beach miles, rocky coastline, and that swim-run grind done properly. Amy flew the SSG flag and finished the day on the podium.
Huge congrats, Amy!

Friday morning swim and thankfully the conditions on Thursday had settled.
Still choppy and chilly with the southerly wind.
Visibly ended up being level 2, so better than expected.
Word of warning to fishermen. Don’t take on Jo.

The difference a day makes.
Conditions for the Monday morning swim were so different to Sunday with a southerly wind, choppy water, and clarity at level 1 (could only see to the elbow).
As a guide for my water clarity rating and discussed with a weather and ocean conditions expert (okay, with Brian), the distance you can see in the water:
Elbow
Hand
Sand
Clarify scale from 0 to 3.
0 - can’t see.
1 - see to the elbow.
2 - see to the hand.
3 - see the sand.
