What's On ↘ with are hosting a closing event this weekend at Creative Studios space Shop 54.

Closing Event - Scoring
📅 Saturday 30 May
⏲️ 3-5pm | Panel discussion 3-4pm, Refreshments 4-5pm
📍 Shop 54, 54 Errol Street, North Melbourne

Featuring artists Adele Wilkes, Callum McGrath, & Jon Tjhia
Composite and Blindside invite you to an artist talk and listening event exploring how sound, scoring and soundtrack shape narrative, atmosphere and perception across moving image, radio and audio-based practice.

Taking the form of a relaxed listening party, the event brings together artists Adele Wilkes, Callum McGrath and exhibition artist Jon Tjhia to discuss how sound shapes their practices. Each artist will share a short excerpt from their own work, or from a soundtrack that has influenced their thinking, opening up a conversation about the role of listening in cinematic experience.
Presented as part of Scoring, an exhibition developed by Composite in collaboration with Blindside, this closing event offers a final opportunity to gather, listen and reflect on the expanded field of cinematic sound.

Behold on IWD the work of Magda and Dimitra, two fascinating artists working out of River Studios. We have very different techniques and experiences here, but a similar grasp for dedication and the inner senses.

🔸Magda Cebokli - "I whittle away at irrelevancies to produce series of paintings that appear minimal but whose surfaces are built up layer by meticulous layer, each painting speaking to a question raised by another."

🔸Dimitra Koriozos - "I suppose photographic narratives have always stayed with me as much as my favourite films or novels have. I’m quite a restless person and something about taking photos pacified me, which felt like a miracle at the time."

All rights are reserved by the artists:

1. Magda Cebokli, Sensorium (detail), 2019, acrylic on cotton-linen
2. Dimitra Koriozos, Adut Akech, 2018
3. Magda Cebokli, Sphere (detail), 2015, acrylic on linen
