I recently had the pleasure of working with the lovely owners of Distillery to photograph one of their gorgeous new cocktails for a recipe card.

It’s a tough job — spending the day surrounded by beautiful drinks in a gorgeous setting and enjoying the smell of gin botanicals!

The only problem? My assistant (aka son #4) doesn’t have a driver’s licence… so he got to enjoy the cocktails instead of me 😄

So, I might be in the market for a new assistant - ideally one who can also double as a designated driver!

On a more serious note, if you know any local venues or distilleries that need high-quality, story-driven images to promote their food or drinks, I’d really appreciate an introduction.

They’ll get stunning photography ... and I’ll make sure I bring my own driver next time.

Today was about smashing comfort zones … and staying there long enough to realise it’s actually not that scary.

I caught the train (which, if you know me, is already a win), and then I did something even bigger. I stood in front of the camera instead of behind it.

At first, it felt awkward. Like I didn’t quite know what to do with myself. But something interesting happened… the longer I stayed in it, the more I relaxed. The more I trusted the process.

And then I saw the final image.

It’s a good reminder that sometimes the best results come when you lean into the discomfort and give it time to work its magic.

I recently had the pleasure of photographing the inaugural Imagine Re-Evolution Ltd Gala Night. On the surface this image looks bright, colourful and beautifully lit. But the reality? The room was dark, filled with yellow fairy lights, and had zero natural light.
