Good news. We made it!
(Or bad news, depending on your relationship with winter).

Tomorrow is the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year in the Southern Hemisphere.

But from Monday, the days start getting longer again.

The Winter Solstice occurs when the Sun appears at its lowest point in our sky. If you have a fence, rooftop or tree nearby, use it as a reference point and watch what happens over the coming weeks. Each day, the Sun will appear a little higher in the sky as we make our way towards the Summer Solstice in December.

Imagine meeting an astronaut at Scitech! ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿš€

Yesterday, astronaut and Australian of the Year Katherine Bennell-Pegg inspired the next generation of explorers during a special session with primary school students in the Scitech Planetarium.

Almost one year after joining our Mission: SPACE virtual excursions, it was incredibly special to work with Katherine again for another inspiring experience.

Students learnt about the journey to becoming an astronaut, from survival training and learning languages to conducting science experiments, staying physically fit, and even performing CPR in zero gravity.

โ€œThe first person on Mars is in a classroom today. That could be in an Australian classroom. It could be you!โ€ ๐Ÿงก

Together with Education WA and Auspire, we were proud to help create such an unforgettable experience.
