🏑 Can a Prefab Home Be Extended in the Future?
Your home may suit your needs today, but life can change. Your family may grow, you may start working from home, or you may simply need more space in the future.
That’s why it’s worth thinking beyond your immediate needs when planning a prefab home.
πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§ Growing Family?
An additional bedroom or larger living area may become important as your family grows.
πŸ’» Need More Space?
A home office, study or flexible room can make your home more adaptable to changing routines.
πŸ“ Plan Ahead
Considering potential future extensions early can help you make smarter decisions about your layout, site and overall design.
A prefab home doesn't have to be designed only for the life you have today.
Build for today. Plan for tomorrow.

🏑 Buying a Prefab Home? Understand the Warranty

When choosing a prefab home, the design and price are important, but so is understanding what protection comes with your purchase.
Before you commit, take some time to review the warranty and make sure you know what it covers.

πŸ” Know What’s Covered
Check which materials, components and workmanship are included under the warranty.
πŸ“… Understand the Warranty Period
Different products or components may have different coverage periods and conditions. Make sure you know how long each applies.
πŸ“‹ Read the Conditions
Pay attention to what is included, what is excluded, and any requirements you need to follow to maintain your warranty.
πŸ› οΈ Know How to Make a Claim
Understand the process for reporting an issue and what information or documentation may be required.

A warranty isn’t just paperwork, it’s part of understanding your investment and knowing what support is available after your home is built.

Always review the specific warranty terms provided with your prefab home and ask questions if anything is unclear.

πŸ—οΈ Planning Your Site Access Before Building
A well-planned building site isn't just about where the home will sit. Site access, delivery routes, unloading areas and material storage all need to be considered before construction begins.
πŸš› Check Vehicle Access
Make sure there is enough room for delivery vehicles and construction equipment to enter, move around and safely exit the site.
πŸ“¦ Plan Your Unloading Area
A designated unloading area helps materials arrive where they're needed and keeps unnecessary movement around the site to a minimum.
πŸ“ Think About the Whole Site
Consider the driveway, home footprint, material storage, working areas and access points together. Good coordination can help create a more organised building site.
The better you plan your site before construction, the easier it is to keep the project organised once work begins.
Plan the site. Prepare the access. Build with confidence.

Why Choose Prefab Homes When Building in WA? 🏠
Prefab steel homes offer a faster, stronger and more sustainable way to build:

πŸ›‘οΈ Built to last – Steel framing resists termites, rot and warping, helping maintain structural integrity over time.
πŸ“¦ Fewer material delays – Prefabricated components are planned and manufactured in advance, reducing reliance on multiple materials during on-site construction.
⚑ Faster installation – Steel framing can be installed at rates of up to 100 mΒ² per day, depending on the project, helping reduce labour hours and construction time.
♻️ Sustainable construction – Steel is 100% recyclable, making it a smart choice for reducing construction waste and supporting a circular economy.

🏑 What Does β€œLock-Up” Mean in a Prefab Home?

You may have heard builders talk about a home reaching the β€œlock-up stage”, but what does it actually mean?

In simple terms, lock-up means the main building is enclosed and secured, giving you a clear view of the home’s structure and allowing the project to move into the next stage.

πŸ”¨ Walls & Roof Are In Place
The main structure has been built, and the home starts to look like the finished design.

πŸšͺ Doors & Windows Are Installed
With openings enclosed, the home is protected from the outside environment and can be secured.

✨ Ready for the Next Stage
Once lock-up is achieved, work can continue on the interior fit-out, services, finishes and other details.

From structure to finishing touches, every stage brings your prefab home one step closer to completion.

Know the stage. Understand the build. See your home take shape.

Our prefab home project is reaching an exciting milestone, the light-gauge steel frame is now almost complete, and the house is truly beginning to take shape. πŸ πŸ—οΈ
With the main wall frames, structural sections and roof framework coming together, the layout of the future home is becoming clearer each day. What began as a set of plans and carefully prepared components is now developing into a strong, recognisable structure on site.
The steel frame forms the backbone of the home, so accuracy is essential throughout this stage. Every section must be correctly positioned, aligned and securely connected to prepare the building for the roofing, exterior cladding, insulation and internal finishing stages that follow.
There is still more work ahead, but the progress so far marks an important achievement for the Prefab Home Kits team. Step by step, the structure is becoming a home, and we look forward to sharing the next stage of the journey.

🏑 How to Choose the Right Prefab Home Layout

Choosing a floor plan isn’t just about counting bedrooms. The right layout should fit the way you actually live, from your daily routines to how your family uses each space.

Think about how you cook, relax, work, entertain, and spend time together. A well-planned layout can make your home feel more comfortable, practical, and connected.

πŸ“ Consider Your Lifestyle – Do you need an open living area, a home office, or more private spaces?

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ Think About Your Family – Choose a layout that works for your current needs and can adapt as your family changes.

🌿 Make the Most of Your Block – Consider how the home will connect with your outdoor areas, natural light, and available space.

The best floor plan isn’t necessarily the biggest one, it’s the one that works best for you.

πŸ’¬ What would your ideal prefab home layout look like?
