Sunday's Plant of the Day! Haemanthus "Paintbrush Lily"

Sumo Mandarin (left) compared to Imperial. Citrus season is definitely on us!

Gordonia axillaris "Fried Egg Plant". A close relative to Camellias, this large shrub flowers beautifully through autumn & features glossy, dark green to compliment the flowers

Bit of autumn colour about! How's the size of tge Sumo Mandarin!!

It's not the first time I've seen this but it still captures my eye. A Moreton Fig (Ficus macrophylla) growing on another tree. In this case a Wepping Peppermint (Agonis flexuousa). The Ficus seed would have been lodged into a nook on within the Peppy trunk by a bird, germinated amongst the decomposed leaf litter & then grown with great vigor. My money is on the Ficus to eventually consume the Agonis!

The Chinese Tallow Tree is ideally suited to suburban gardens. Reliable autumn colour even in warmer zones. Can be shaped pruned to maintain size.
