What’s everyone’s thoughts on the state of Australian hip hop at the moment? Do you think it’s thriving with the new sub genres of hip hop or do you think the golden era is gone for the moment? I personally think there’s been a giant shift.
It use to be fuelled massively by the artists, creativity and collaborating and now it’s very cold like a business. I think it’s healthy it’s just not healthy in the same way. There’s definitely talent out there but That cypher in the street vibe feels far away. When I started people’s aim was to be the dopest, they would freestyle and compete with each other but there was life in that. My only aim when I started was small compared to people’s now. All I wanted was if someone said “hey you heard of kogz” in my city they would say “yeah that c**t can spit” that’s it.. I never wanted to be a rapper or the next big thing, it wasn’t even a thought I just rapped. I feel like that’s changed, people don’t enter this with the thought of being the best at what they do they go in with the idea of being the biggest. I think there’s a big difference in that and quality dies within it.
That being said I think it’s in pretty good shape it’s just morphed into something different, what do you think?

Do people still care about “artists” that rap about how big their dicks are, how many drugs they do and the amount of women they f**k? I take full accountability if I’m out of touch here but unless I feel some sort of depth and it goes deeper than how hard you party I just don’t give a f**k about it and I think it’s corny. I don’t care how dope the scheme is if the scheme is telling me your dick squirts further than mine lol
I want to f**king rap. That’s what hip hop is about. My new album will be a reminder of that. Time to jog c**ts memories and remind people that it’s bars over bu****it.
