Home to more than 2,000 animals across 200 species, this family-owned favourite is all about up-close encounters and unforgettable moments. Hand-feed kangaroos, snap a photo with a koala, catch keeper talks, watch penguin feeding time and wander through the interactive Farmyard — all included in your entry ticket.

As the cool and rains of Makuru set in, so too does fungi season! 🍄

From richly coloured caps to delicate shelves on tree trunks, Whiteman Park has erupted in an array of exquisite fungal finds to discover this winter.

Grab your raincoat and your camera, and enjoy a winter walk in the Park fungi-spotting. It’s the perfect time to explore!

⚠️ Just remember, like everything in our bushland, the mantra is to 'take nothing but photographs, leave nothing but footprints'. These fungi have a important roles to play in the environment that does not include being eaten by us. So don't eat them, lick them, or even touch them... please!

It's hovea season! The stunning Hovea trisperma, who features on our June What's On, will be starting to bloom now.

Also known as the common hovea, this small, woody shrub can be difficult to spot until it’s vivid blue/purple pea flowers appear. It is one of the first of the pea plants to bloom, brightening up the dark winter months in the woodland understory.

You can tell it apart from its very similar Hardenbergia (native wysteria) cousins by the lack of lime green 'eyes'... instead, these delicate peas have just one central white spot. They also sport long, thin leaves, unlike most other native Hoveas.

Grab a raincoat and take a walk along Wunanga Way to enjoy spot this sensational little plant while at its best!

A little rain just makes the adventure even better 🌧️🍃

Winter is the perfect time to explore the Children’s Forest at Whiteman Park. Pull on the raincoats, splash through puddles and discover a whole new side of the bushland as it comes alive after the rain.

Keep an eye out for fairy doors, native bees, giant marching ants, colourful birds, peeking possums and the Forest’s famous guardians, the Boy of the Bush and his sister Fern. 👀✨

Before setting off, stop by the Visitor Information Centre to pick up a free activity sheet with maps to help guide your adventure. 🗺️

From hidden artworks to local wildlife spotting, there’s plenty for little explorers to discover across all 18 stages of the Forest!
