Happy World Parrot Day from the our most vibrant parrot visitor: the red-capped parrot!

You’ll often spy the broad-tailed parrots using their long bill that is perfectly shaped for nomming on seeds from marri ‘honkey nuts’ and other eucalyptus fruits, throughout the parklands and bushland.

Have you been lucky enough to spot the colourful red-capped parrots in the Park? A massive thanks to for this stunning snap! 🦜

Tucked away in a quiet spot you’ll find the Healing Place, a peaceful sanctuary designed for pause and reflection. Created from native gum leaves etched with floral artworks inspired by the flowers, leaves and fruits of the Park, it’s a space that invites you to slow down and simply be.

At the entrance, you’ll also find community handprints welcoming you in — a beautiful reminder that this is a shared space for calm, connection and quiet moments. 🍃💛

Today marks International Day for Biological Diversity 🌱 and this year’s theme, ‘Acting locally for global impact,’ is a fantastic reminder of how the small actions we take in our own backyards can add up to meaningful change for biodiversity worldwide.

Here at the Park, we’re celebrating the ongoing successes of our annual tree planting and fauna breeding programs. Each year, we continue to make progress—one step at a time—in actively boosting the biodiversity of our banksia woodland. From woylies to wallabies, curlews to cockatoos, skinks to snakebush, every animal and plant plays a vital role in our ecosystem.

Small actions, like those you can undertake at home, really do matter too! Whether you’re planting a native shrub, keeping your pet cat safely indoors, or creating a mini wetland to welcome frogs, every little effort helps to support and protect our local biodiversity. Together, these steps create ripples that reach far and wide.
