Hi everyone
I would like to share my experience with 5 Element Acupressure work that I have introduced into my clinic. I have been studying this modaility for a few years now and have just extended my study again into this with John Kirkwood. I have found that this work allows me to work more holistically with clients especially when emotional trauma presents in the treatment.
John runs courses in All states except Tasmania and Northern Territory. All his courses come with CPE points.
if your looking for a new modality to add to your practice or want to start a new career in the field of allied health I would highly recommend these courses
Here is a link to a video from john explaining the modaility and the course structure.

Today we’re exploring the physiological features of relaxation associated with Sound. 🧠🫁 Physiology is the study of how the human body works.
Text excerpts from “Why is the sound massage perceived as beneficial?”
By Christina M. Koller PhD
When we speak of the physiological characteristics of relaxation, it is important to distinguish the various bodily systems, in which the relaxation response shows in different physiological characteristics (Ross, 2009, S.S. 148 ff):
🪷 Neuromuscular System
There is a decrease in the reflex activities, the number of active motor units and the EMG signals.
🪷 Cardio-vascular system
This results in a lowering of the heart rate, blood pressure and an expansion of the peripheral circulation (thermal sensation).
🪷 Respiratory System
There is a general damping, the inspiration phase increases, decreases the oxygen consumption and carbon dioxide production and respiration becomes flatter and more uniform.
🪷 Central nervous system
The visible increase in EEG alpha and theta waves.
🪷 Metabolism
The blood sugar level rises, and the cholesterol level, the salivary cortisol and norepinephrine (the hormone and neurotransmitter most responsible for vigilant concentration, Transl.) decline.
🪷Electrodermal properties
The skin resistance increases or decreases, and the skin conductance (sweat gland activity) decreases.
Recent studies also show that the activation state of meditative relaxation comes to the following areas of the brain (cf. Ross, 2009):
🪷Amygdala
Part of the limbic system, which is responsible for emotions
🪷Hippocampus
Part of the limbic system, which is responsible for emotions and memory
🪷Anterior cingulate cortex
Associated with attention and alertness
🪷Hypothalamus and midbrain
Responsible for the autonomic control
🪷Psychological Features
The following psychological characteristics are typical of the experience of relaxation (cf. Ross, 2009):
• Mental freshness
• Inside-looking attention
• Increase awareness of different thresholds for external stimuli
• Increased associative thinking
• Affective indifference (sense of serenity)(see Derra, 2006; Vaitl / Petermann, 2000).

TRANSITION FROM WATER TO WOOD
Hi Everyone we are about to enter the period of transition between the season of Winter and the Water Element to the Season of Spring and the Wood Element . the Transition starts on the 21 st July to the 8th August. Times of transition are the domain of the Earth Element. Some clients may find they are ungrounded and unfocussed at this time and the earth strengthening sequence in your Level 2 notes will assist.
Some other clients may feel difficulties in the transition between Winter to Spring, a great point is the Front Alarm point of the Kidney on the Gallbladder meridian GB25
GB25 stimulates us into action as it represents the Qi of the kidney on Wood element - the child of the water element. Combine GB25 with Liv 13( the front Alarm point for the Spleen and Earth element) to ensure the smooth passage through this time of transition.
