The annual ๐๐๐ข๐ฅ ๐๐๐๐๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐๐๐ค ๐๐๐๐ starts today!
It's a vital initiative to help save lives.
๐ NO LIGHTS. NO GATES. DON'T MISJUDGE THE TRACKS ๐
Did you know that the vast majority of railway crossings in regional and country areas are "passive"? This means there are no flashing lights, no bells, and no boom gates to warn you a train is coming.
In country areas, rail safety relies entirely on all of US road users!
A freight train can take up to 2 kilometres to fully pull to a stop, and the driver cannot swerve to miss you.
When driving on rural roads this (and always), remember to Expect the Unexpected:
๐จ Slow down early when approaching country tracks.
๐จ Never assume the tracks are clear because it's a quiet area.
๐จ Look and listen carefully through your side windows before crossing.
๐จ Obey the signs: a Stop or Give Way sign at a railway line is just as critical as one at a major highway intersection.
Let's look out for our regional communities. Please share this to remind your mates, family, and heavy vehicle drivers to stay alert at all times!

GEISMAR Rail Industry Technologies & Services โ ๐๐ ๐๐ฅ๐๐๐ ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ฑ Towed Track Recording Unit
The EMERALD is a towed track recording trolley designed to streamline long-distance rail monitoring and data collection.
Towed by a road-rail vehicle or inspection lorry at speeds up to 20 km/h (12 mph), it enables quick deployment closer to worksites to save operational time. Its high-capacity memory allows for continuous tracking across extensive distances without interruption, supporting efficient field operations.
The unit manages geometry data through a modern, wireless connection to an integrated tablet. This system displays and records accurate, live geolocated measurements, offering operators an intuitive and direct interface for real-time monitoring.
Additionally, the EMERALD features a simple, robust, and ergonomic design engineered for quick physical handling. With its built-in forklift pocket system, a single operator can safely and easily deploy the device on-site, minimizing the labor and extra equipment needed for installation.

In Western Australia, "Heavy Haul" isnโt just a category, itโs the financial engine of the state. Moving hundreds of millions of tonnes of iron ore and grain across unforgiving outback terrain demands a level of engineering resilience found nowhere else on Earth.
When a single freight train can carry the equivalent load of 100+ semi-trailers, there is no margin for error. A single out-of-shape wheel can trigger devastating track damage or catastrophic downtime. In this high-stakes environment, managing the lifecycle of rolling stock assets is a critical financial strategy.
That is why Key Source Rail operates a highly specialized Wheelshop right here in Midvale (WA).
Instead of facing the massive costs and delays of importing new components or shipping them interstate, we provide precision overhauls and reprofiling right here in Midvale. By cutting freight turnaround times, we turn potential downtime into active revenue generation, keeping customer wagons fully operational.
We reduce our customers operational costs by giving worn-out axles and wheels a second life at a fraction of replacement costs. In short, our customers avoid expensive new replacements, minimizing their expenditure on new inventory and maximizing the operational lifespan of their existing rolling stock.
When the axle loads are heavy and the climate is brutal, precision maintenance isn't a luxury - itโs an imperative.

๐Check out this turnaround at our Wheelshop recently!
Wheelsets require specialized engineering processes like reprofiling, non-destructive testing (NDT), and press-fitting to restore worn components to safe operating limits.
Worn-out Wheelsets donโt have to mean costly delays for your rolling stock.
We took this worn Wheelset through our precision refurbishment process - bringing it back to strict safety tolerances and extending its service life.
Whether you need expert Wheelset re-profiling, re-wheeling and new assemblies of Wheelsets, bearing overhauls, or immediate supply of hard-to-find track and rolling stock components, we can take care of all of that. We are proud to help keep Australia's rail network moving smoothly!
Why operators trust us:
๐นRapid turnaround times to minimize downtime
๐นStrict compliance with A.A.R. Standards (Association of American Railroads)
๐นFull-service track maintenance and parts supply

From the growing WA METRONET suburban footprint to regional network upgrades, there is a fundamental reshaping of how our communities connect. But grand visions and billions in funding only succeed if the foundation is well supported.
As networks reach is ever expanding, the strain on track infrastructure grows exponentially. Mega-projects cannot afford to overlook the critical tier-two supply chains that keep the system reliable.
At Key Source Rail, we have expanded over the last 17 years from a local track maintenance provider into an international, end-to-end rail solutions specialist supporting major Australian rail and mining networks. We have always looked at the track ahead through a lens of long-term reliability with a commitment to fostering strong industry partnerships.
We are the exclusive and sole distributor for Geismar (GRITS) rail equipment and products across Australia (and New Zealand) so can provide local access to global innovations. We can ensure that Australiaโs expanded network is supported and maintained to world-class standards.
Following our strategic expansion, we operate across 3 core pillars:
๐ The Ultimate Train Wheel Hospital: Train wheels take an absolute beating. We operate out of a high-tech Wheelshop in WA where we use advanced machinery to inspect, refurbish, assemble, and/or repair massive train wheels and axles to ensure they never derail.
๐ The Local Tool and Parts Store: We stock a massive WA warehouse filled with critical spare parts and equipment. This allows Australiaโs rail companies to get what they need promptly, often avoiding the long lead times of freighting components from the Eastern States or overseas.
๐ Bringing Global Innovations to Australia: We act as the exclusive Australian gateway for game-changing global track technologies. This includes grease-free track-switching systems (from Ekoslide), premium track maintenance tools (from Geismar/GRITS), and level crossings made entirely of recycled tyres (from Rosehill Rail).
In short, we are the specialized mechanics and suppliers ensuring that Australiaโs multi-billion-dollar rail networks stay on the tracks. Expanding the network is just one step. Keeping it running smoothly for decades to come is where the real work happens.

Our Key Source Rail team members who spent time in the North West (WA) recently to assist with the delivery of heavy-duty flat wagons for Rio Tinto have sent us more images!
Flat wagons are essential for transporting the heavy, oversized machinery needed to support the Australian mining and rail network.
A huge thank you to our team members for their hard work and dedication in ensuring these deliveries run smoothly and efficiently.
