A couple months ago, we asked Western Australians for their views on WA's public holiday calendar.

The response was overwhelming, with strong support for changes that better align our holidays with the rest of the country - making life easier for families and businesses.

Striking the right balance was essential - ensuring workers enjoy the breaks they deserve, while keeping our economy moving.

That’s why from 2028, once the legislation has passed through Parliament, Labour Day and the King’s Birthday will shift to match other States.

WA Day will move to November, giving us the chance to celebrate our State in warmer weather.

A brand-new “Show Day” holiday will be introduced on the first Monday of the September/October school holidays - giving families more time together.

And Easter Saturday will also be recognised as a public holiday.

These changes will modernise WA’s calendar, better align us with other States, and provide more opportunities to celebrate our community, culture and achievements.
