Last week we celebrated World Children’s Day by joining UNICEF’s One Minute of Loudness highlighting the importance of every child being heard, valued, and supported.
Our children chose to take part by coming together on the basketball courts and singing one of their favourite songs, “Golden” from K-Pop Demon Hunters. This was their way of adding their voices to a special moment recognising children’s voices, rights, inclusion, and wellbeing.
UNICEF works around the world to protect children’s rights — making sure kids are safe, healthy, educated, and supported no matter where they live. By joining in, we helped shine a light on the importance of children’s wellbeing and their right to be heard.
After our loud minute, we continued the fun with water-balloon play 💦 followed by icy poles to cool down — the perfect way to finish off a warm afternoon.

Program Highlight of the Week:
⚽️🏀🏉🏏🏓⚾️ Sports ⚽️🏀🏉🏏🏓⚾️
Our afternoons at School Mates OSHC are full of energy and teamwork with our ongoing sports program!
The children take part in a wide range of activities including lacrosse, hockey, basketball, table tennis, netball, cricket, T-ball, touch rugby, and of course the fan favourite — Capture the Flag! 🚩
This term, our main focus has been on soccer, the children’s top choice! They’ve been learning new skills with educators — building on teamwork, coordination, communication, and confidence. ⭐️
One of our very own children, Xavier, has also stepped into a leadership role by running soccer drills and warm-ups with his peers, helping others develop new techniques and have fun while learning. ⚽🙌
It’s been great seeing the children so engaged, active, and supportive of one another throughout each session! 💜

HALLOWEEN PARTY at School Mates this Friday! All are welcome down to party 4pm-6pm!
🌟 Children’s Week Celebration! 🌟
This week we celebrated Children’s Week by exploring the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). The children read and discussed the articles that mean the most to our service — the ones that reflect the respect, safety, inclusion, and voice we value every day. 💬✨
It was inspiring to see how deeply they understood these rights and could connect them to their everyday experiences at OSHC.
🎤 A special highlight was Zoe, who confidently read aloud and shared her understanding of what these rights mean to her and her friends. Her thoughtful reflections reminded us how capable and insightful children truly are when given the chance to lead their own learning. 💛
Together, we continue to promote children’s voices, rights, and empowerment — not just this week, but every day. 🌈👧👦

🌈 What a week at School Mates OSHC! 🌈
We had an amazing time celebrating Children’s Week — a special time to recognise and live out children’s rights every single day! 💛
Our week was filled with fun, laughter, and learning. The children took part in exciting activities, including Kapa Haka, and we were lucky to have a wonderful volunteer teach us Ka Mate, a traditional Māori dance from New Zealand 🇳🇿.
To top it all off, we ended the week with a huge Rave Party — even the parents couldn’t resist joining in! 🎶💃🕺
It was a joyful celebration of our children, their voices, and everything that makes them shine! 🌟
