✂️ Building strong hands through play! ✂️
Today the children took on the challenge of cutting dried spaghetti using nail clippers. While lots of fun, this experience was intentionally designed to strengthen the small muscles needed for writing, drawing, cutting and everyday self help skills.
As children carefully guided the spaghetti into the “hungry crocodile’s mouth” before giving it a SNAP, they were developing hand strength, coordination, concentration and perseverance.
Sometimes the simplest experiences provide the most powerful learning opportunities! 💛

✨ SCIENCE, SURPRISES & A LITTLE BIT OF MAGIC! ✨
Today our young scientists discovered that sometimes the most exciting things are the ones you can’t see… at first! 👀🔬
Using a mysterious mixture of baking soda and water, children created “invisible” paintings before revealing their hidden masterpieces with a turmeric and hand sanitiser reaction. The squeals of excitement when colours suddenly appeared were absolutely priceless!
Throughout the experience, children made predictions, tested theories, observed changes and expanded their scientific vocabulary while exploring cause and effect in a hands-on and meaningful way.
There were plenty of comments such as:
💬 “It’s invisible!”
💬 “Look! It’s turning red!”
💬 “Mine is coming out!”
💬 “It’s magic!”
(Although we know it was actually science… which is pretty magical in itself!)
Experiences like these encourage curiosity, critical thinking, problem solving and a love of discovery while showing children that learning can be surprising, exciting and lots of fun.

🏠❤️ Home Is Where Our Story Begins ❤️🏠
Today our little learners became architects, artists and storytellers as they created their very own houses using pop sticks before drawing the special people who live inside! 🏡✨
As children shared stories about their families, they explored what makes their home unique, who they live with, and the special moments they enjoy together. From mums and dads to grandparents, siblings, pets and extended family members, every masterpiece celebrated the people who help children feel loved, safe and connected. 💕
This meaningful experience supported children’s sense of identity and belonging while encouraging creativity, communication and fine motor development through gluing, drawing and mark making.
Every family is different, and every family is special. 🌟

🐞 Magnetic Number Collection Boxes 🐞
Today our little mathematicians took number learning to a whole new level… with a surprise twist! Instead of traditional counters, the children used coloured bugs to explore counting, sorting, and number recognition…. and they absolutely loved it!
Each card displayed a numeral, and the children used tongs to carefully collect and place the correct number of bugs into their container. There was lots of focus, concentration, and just the right amount of excitement as they worked out “how many” and checked their collections.
This hands on experience supported:
✨ Number recognition
✨ One-to-one correspondence
✨ Counting skills
✨ Fine motor strength and coordination
✨ Mathematical language like more, less, and equal
We loved hearing the children problem solve and self check their work- especially when they proudly recounted their bugs to make sure every box was just right.
A simple idea, big thinking… and very busy little hands! 🐞🧠

🏉💛 Wear Your Footy Colours Day! 💛🏉
On Thursday 25th June, we invite all children and educators to come dressed in their favourite footy team colours and help make a difference for children and families battling cancer.
This special day is about coming together as a community to raise awareness and support an important cause. Donations are welcome, with all funds raised being donated to the Fight Cancer Foundation.
We’ll also be getting into the footy spirit with our very own footy games and activities throughout the day, giving children the opportunity to have fun, build teamwork skills, and celebrate together.
Whether you support the Eagles, Dockers, or any other team, pull on your jersey, scarf, or team colours and join us for a fun-filled day of footy spirit and fundraising!

Our children have been exploring early literacy skills through a fun and engaging name tracing experience! Using paint and cotton buds, children carefully traced the letters in their own names, strengthening their understanding of letter formation while developing fine motor control, hand-eye coordination and concentration.
Recognising and writing their own name is an important milestone in early literacy development, helping children build confidence, a sense of identity and a connection to print. We loved seeing the focus, persistence and pride as children worked through each letter of their name.

Tiny hands were hard at work today during our Bead Rescue in Playdough experience! 👐✨
As children squeezed, pinched, pulled, stretched and rolled the playdough, they searched for hidden beads and carefully rescued them from inside. While the activity felt like fun, children were also developing important fine motor skills, hand strength and finger control that support future writing, drawing, cutting and everyday self help tasks.
This engaging sensory experience encouraged persistence, problem solving and concentration as children worked out the best ways to locate and remove each bead. We loved watching their determination and excitement with every successful rescue! 💪

A little sprinkle of salt created a whole lot of wonder today! 🎨✨
Children explored colour, creativity and science as they painted beautiful artworks before adding salt and watching the magic happen. As the salt absorbed the moisture, unique patterns and textures appeared, encouraging curiosity, observation and experimentation.
Through this hands on experience, children developed fine motor skills, creative expression and an understanding of cause and effect…. all while having fun and embracing the joy of discovery!
