The Save Community Legal Centres: End the Funding Crisis campaign launches today. Midlas is proud to have endorsed the campaign sign-on.

Community legal centres help hundreds of thousands of people every year to resolve everyday legal problems in areas like housing, relationships, debts and money problems, and discrimination. People trust their local community legal centre to support them early, before legal problems snowball to crisis point.
The 2024 Federal Budget failed to provide the urgent funding boost and long-term funding security the community legal sector desperately needs. With less than a yearsโ guaranteed funding left, community legal centres are in the most uncertain position we have faced in a decade.
Midlas has a proud history of supporting community for over 35 years. The idea of that history coming to an end is unfathomably and would severely prejudice some of our most vulnerable who would otherwise not have access to justice. Show your support and help save our community legal centres!

๐๐ Today is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day ๐๐
Elder abuse is an issue that affects millions around the globe, often in silence. The day is dedicated to raising awareness about the abuse and neglect of older persons.
In support of World Edler Abuse Awareness Day this year, Midlas and Legalaid partnered together to support an awareness raising morning tea and info session hosted by Swan Community Care.
Swan Community care members and wider community heard from Legalaid and how Midlas' Resilient Futures program is committed to safeguarding the dignity, decision-making, choices and safety of older persons with a dedicated focus on reducing elder abuse in our communities.
Conversations about elder abuse are essential for creating a society that values and protects its older members so letโs have a chat and rise up together against elder abuse.
