This Men's Health Week, Australia is encouraging men to stop putting their health on the back burner, with a campaign theme we think says it perfectly: "101 Reasons to See Your GP."
For older Australian men, that message lands differently. Many have spent a lifetime being told that pushing through is just what you do. It is a quality that deserves respect, but when it comes to health, waiting too long can quietly cost more than it should.
As the campaign puts it: "You know what's actually tough? Being strong enough to ask for help."
If there is something that has been sitting in the back of your mind, this week is a good reason to act on it.
Book the GP appointment. Call a family member or a good mate for a proper catch-up. And if things have felt heavier than usual, Lifeline is available around the clock on 13 11 14.
One small step. That is all it takes. π

This week, 27 May β 3 June, is National Reconciliation Week and this year's theme is All In.
We pause to reflect on the shared history, culture, and future of all Australians and on the ongoing journey toward reconciliation with First Nations peoples.
At PlanCare, we are committed to supporting older Australians from all backgrounds to live with dignity, choice, and independence, including First Nations Elders and communities whose connection to Country, culture, and family is central to their wellbeing.
We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live and work, and we pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging. πβ€οΈπ€

Just received your Support at Home Notice of Decision (NOD) and your funding looks lower than you expected?
Don't worry - you're probably on interim funding, and it's completely normal.
Interim funding means you can access essential care services right away, without waiting for your full budget to be ready π©΅
We have broken down exactly how it works, what it covers, and what to expect next. Swipe through to learn more, or read our full guide here π

A Notice of Decision, or NOD is the official letter you receive after your aged care assessment has been completed. It is your formal confirmation of what support you have been approved for. Sometimes they are also referred to as an Approval Letter.
Your NOD will tell you:
β
Whether you have been approved for Support at Home, what level has been assigned to you and why
β
What services and short-term supports you have been approved for you
β
Whether you have received interim funding or not
If you disagree with the decision, you have the right to request a reassessment and your NOD will outline exactly how to do this, including the timeframes and who to contact.
Receiving your NOD is an important milestone in your aged care journey. It means your needs have been heard, assessed, and documented π©΅
If anything in your Notice of Decision feels unclear, My Aged Care can help walk you through what it means for you.
