Here, appearance is not the focus, nothing is disguised and nothing is glorified.

This shoot with .xo was one of the most felt, not only for the presence she brought,
but for where we were.

Tucked just outside Perth’s CBD,
those towering trees offered more than a backdrop.
They gave silence, shelter, space to feel.

I found out recently that they’re gone, lost to infection, and with them,
a place that shaped so many of my images and ideas.

We often credit the technique or the subject.
But most of the time,
it’s the place that does the heavy lifting, that gives the emotion room to grow,
and gives us something we didn’t know we needed.

This is why I choose open spaces.
Why I return to nature again and again.

Because feeling lives there.
And that’s where photography begins.
