We are so pumped for Saturdays Mechanics 101 Workshop lead by legend and skilled dual trade mechanic Bridget Bell . A hands on workshop that will take participants through some practical car basics like changing a tyre and performing important safety checks.

I had the honour of attending @avon_valley_toyota ‘s Ladies Night last night in @shireofnortham to speak about my journey, as a woman in the motor trade, and as a person deeply passionate about motorsports, and the women that exist in these spaces. I was thrilled to get the call up from Avon Valley Toyota to speak at their upcoming Ladies Motoring Night. I am planning on sharing insightful and inspiring stories from my time in male dominated spaces, and maybe even share a trick or two with the attendees on the night.

We're just one week away from our Ladies Motoring Night and are excited to introduce one of our special guests; Bridget Bell. Read on to find out more:

Bridget Bell is a passionate light vehicle and heavy-duty mechanic with a diverse career that spans technical, media, and mentoring roles within the automotive and motorsport industries. Since 2011, Bridget has been a familiar face at Perth Motorplex, where she serves as a resident motorsports commentator, and as a start-line announcer for the National Drag Racing Championship (NDRC), bringing the excitement of drag racing to audiences around Australia through live broadcasts on 7+. She has also had the privilege of hosting a variety of events, including the WA Hot Rod and Street Machine Spectacular, Joondalup Festival of Motoring start-line, Wagin Burnouts, and most recently, Rubber Rampage in Collie - on this weekend!

Bridget is passionate about creating opportunities for women in industries where they are often feel underrepresented. As the president of Girls Torque - Australian Women's Motoring Network, she actively works to support women who want to pursue careers in motorsport and automotive fields. Bridget also mentors up-and-coming female motorsport media personalities, helping them develop their media careers, and is a volunteer facilitator of tool skills workshops at Bayswater Women's Hub, where she encourages women to gain confidence in working with their hands.

Bridget is an accomplished mechanic, having completed her Heavy Diesel trade certificate and expanded into specialised hydraulic systems. In recognition of her hard work, she was awarded Light Vehicle Apprentice of the Year back-to-back in 2018 and 2019. Bridget’s varied career is a testament to her commitment to providing accessible and inspiring opportunities for women to thrive in the automotive and motorsport industries.

I am very excited to announce that I’ll be hosting Rubber Rampage this weekend with Chop Chop Garage’s Gonz Santiago at the CollieMotorplex.

Richie saw the decline of Automotive Events in WA, and instead of complaining, he decided to be part of the solution! He has been instrumental in pulling together a team of people and gathering the interest of some of the TOP burnout legends in the country, including The Castlemaine Rod Shop, to put on what is set to be the BIGGEST event at Collie Motorplex since the departure of Gazzanats! Rubber Rampage is boasting $34,000 in prizes and Burnout Masters tickets up for grabs, so you know the boys (and girls) will be turning it on and leaving it all out on the pad!

International women’s day is coming up this Saturday, so this is a great time to celebrate the men who make motorsport and the motoring industry accessible, comfortable and enjoyable for women. Thank you for being great guys!
