⛈️ IT’S ‘GET READY QUEENSLAND’ WEEK
This week is ‘Get Ready Queensland’ Week!
Living in Queensland means severe weather can come in many forms. Bushfires, storms, flooding, cyclones and extended power outages can all impact communities, sometimes with little warning.
The good news is there are simple things we can all do now to be better prepared.
Throughout this week, Get Ready Queensland will be sharing practical advice to help you:
✅ Understand the risks where you live
✅ Make an emergency and evacuation plan
✅ Prepare your home and property
✅ Pack an emergency kit
✅ Know where to find warnings and reliable information
✅ Prepare for power, phone or internet outages
✅ Think about pets, medications and important documents
✅ Check in with family, friends and neighbours
📱 We encourage our community to follow Get Ready Queensland on social media this week.
Their pages are a great source of practical information to help Queensland households prepare before severe weather strikes.
A few minutes spent getting ready now can make a big difference when it matters.

Yesterday, our fire station became a meeting place for the whole community.
Kids sprayed water from the fire truck. Families explored the grounds. Locals enjoyed the live music. Neighbours met the people behind their local emergency services.
Thank you to everyone who came to the Bonogin Valley Rural Fire Brigade Community Open Day. Seeing you there made all the preparation worthwhile.
A huge thank you to Queensland Police, Queensland Ambulance Service and SES for joining us. To the petting zoo, bouncy castles, face painters, live musicians and line dancers, thank you for bringing so much fun to the day. And to every stallholder, thank you for being part of it.
To our brigade members: you gave up your time to plan, prepare, set up and spend the day welcoming our community. Thank you. We’re grateful to your families, too, for everything they did behind the scenes.
Our Open Day is a chance to meet your local brigade before you need us. Take that connection one step further this week: make sure everyone in your household knows your bushfire plan, including when you’ll leave and where you’ll go.
What was your favourite part of the day? We’d love to hear it in the comments. 💛

🍰🧁 Homemade with love, baked for our brigade! 💛
One of the sweetest parts of our Community Open Day isn't just the cakes... it's the incredible community spirit behind them.
In the days leading up to tommorrow's event, our brigade members, their families, and generous locals spend countless hours in their own kitchens baking a delicious selection of homemade treats. From cakes and slices to biscuits, muffins, cupcakes and other sweet goodies, every item has been made with care and donated to help support our brigade.
💛 Every dollar raised goes directly back to the Bonogin Valley Rural Fire Brigade!
So, when you're visiting the Open Day, make sure you stop by our Homemade Cakes & Treats Stall, located right next to the Bonogin Valley Rural Fire Brigade marquee.
