So many great world premieres happening this week across our great nation! It’s hard work, the business of creation (so much easier to destroy, amirite?) but we are lucky and proud to count ourselves among the cohort that believes in the transformational power of art and music.
Hope to see some of you in Houston this week for the world premiere of Frida’s Dreams, by the inimitable Gabriela Lena Frank, presented by Da Camera of Houston

Still flying high from the thrill of last week’s concert, where in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the birth of our country we performed “Citizenship Notes”, a program featuring music from the time of the nascent modern democracies by Franz Joseph Haydn and Ludwig van Beethoven, some new commissions reflecting the complications of today’s complex world by Don Byron, Angélica Negrón , and Ted Hearne , as well as a re-imagining of the seminal protest song of Bob Dylan, The Times They Are A-Changin’, arranged by our very own Colin Jacobsen!
Be sure to catch this program sometime this anniversary year, looking ahead to performing it in Washington D.C. in May at the , among other places!

NYC do you have your tickets?
Thrilled to be returning to on Thursday, January 29, to present Citizenship Notes, a program positing the string quartet as microcosm of a radical democracy: four individual voices in a flattened hierarchy, unified in spirit to create something lasting and greater than the sum of its parts.
Music by Franz Joseph Haydn, Don Byron, Angélica Negrón, Ted Hearne, Colin Jacobsen (after Bob Dylan), and Ludwig van Beethoven.
Hope to see you there!!!

Been home for a week, but missing our wonderful time in Australia already, especially the thrill of performing at the Melbourne Recital Centre!! Check out this write-up:
Brooklyn Rider: Citizenship Notes There was no shortage of competitive riders in Melbourne during Cup Week, but the visiting string quartet, Brooklyn Rider, was a clear winner. For this performance, the audience was seated around the players on the Elisabeth Murdoch Hall stage. Chamber music is inherently an intimate affair, convers...
