Come and hear a night of experimental dub and blues-infused sounds at The Edge.

Luritja singer Keanu Nelson, from Papunya/Warumpi in the NT, takes the stage with his evolving "dub country" sound. It's a way-out blend of deep grooves and country storytelling, and you'll hear it played live, including songs that haven't been released yet 🎧

Opening the night is Kankawa Nagarra, an 83-year-old Walmatjarri Elder and musician from Wangkatjungka, WA. Her music carries the songs of ceremony, hymns, gospel and country, all tied together by the blues. She'll be sharing brand new material on the night 🌟

𝘿𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙝𝙖 / 𝘾𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚 heats up this Thursday night for Melbourne Fringe, with an open-invite party – where the DJs take over and it's time to dance with strangers.

Devised and curated by Joel Bray, 𝘿𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙝𝙖 / 𝘾𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚 asks something quietly radical: put down your phone, step outside, and let the people of this city surprise you.

For 𝘿𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙝𝙖 / 𝘾𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚: 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙮, the benches become makeshift stages. The Joel Bray Dancers flit and stride and writhe.

The beat builds. It's time to move, Melbourne.

Come at any hour, bring a friend or a sandwich, smile at a stranger across the glimmering flames 🔥

Arrive at sunset and you will be greeted and led through a quiet ritual to usher in dusk.

This Melbourne International Games Week we're throwing it back to the golden age of video game and comic book adaptations with three nights of free outdoor cinema on the Big Screen. From pizza-loving turtles and world-saving street fighters to everyone's favourite mustachioed plumbers, expect a healthy dose of 90s nostalgia under the stars.

Jazz on Film 🎬 returns this Melbourne International Jazz Festival, with free outdoor cinema at Fed Square, celebrating 100 years since the birth of two jazz legends: Miles Davis and John Coltrane 🎶

After a day of free jazz at the Square on the Saturday of MIJF Opening Weekend, we’ve got an evening double-bill from 7.30pm, featuring the 1965 concert film 𝙅𝙤𝙝𝙣 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙚: 𝙇𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙗𝙡𝙖𝙞𝙣-𝙡𝙖-𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙧 followed by the 2019 documentary by Stanley Nelson, 𝙈𝙞𝙡𝙚𝙨 𝘿𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙨: 𝘽𝙞𝙧𝙩𝙝 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙤𝙡.

On the Sunday, we’ll follow it up with a family-friendly arvo screening of the animated film 𝙎𝙤𝙪𝙡 at 3pm.

𝙇𝙄𝙎𝙏𝙀𝙉: 𝙄𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙇𝙖𝙗𝙚𝙡 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙈𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙝 is a new program at Fed Square, designed to intro you to some of the artists, sounds and labels shaping Melbourne music. 
 
Each day during lunchtime or after work, you can walk through the Square to listen to curated mixes of music – each month drawing from the catalogue of a different local independent label.
 
👀 If you’re interested to check out the music you hear, check the details on the Big Screen – you’ll find the artist and track name there, as well as the current label we’re spotlighting that month.
