Shout out to all the other performers and theatre workers with young kids. Those continuous, disrupted runs of late night finishes to very early morning wake ups are no joke. Much like the rest of social media, as the year comes to an end I’m taking a moment to reflect. If you’ll indulge me a sentimental post, this is what has come up.
A year and a half ago my wife and I made the decision to take a leap and really chase this performing dream with open arms. It’s ended up being the most rewarding, extraordinary, challenging 18 months, and I find myself overwhelmed with gratitude on a regular basis that I get to do this job as much as I do, supported but the people most important to me.
The life of a freelance performer does not make for a simple family life. None of this would be possible if not for my extraordinary wife, Alyce, who has taken on so much to make this pursuit work, while continuing to kick goals in her own career and embracing all the complexities this period has thrown at us. People sometimes call me an over achiever, but those who know Alyce know that I’m not the over achiever in the family. She is. I couldn’t be more proud of her, and I couldn’t be more grateful for her.
Reflecting on this last 18 months, I’m honestly gobsmacked at the opportunities I’ve been afforded. Here’s some of what’s happened:
🎵 Worked on 14 Operas
🎵 Performed two seasons of my first professional musical
🎵 Made 6 role debuts
🎵 Understudied 4 roles
🎵 Performed in the chorus for 9 productions
🎵 Workshopped 2 new Australian operas
🎵 Performed in 7 Australian States/Territories and toured to Dubai for a season at Dubai Opera
🎵 Racked up A LOT of kilometres on the road/in the sky.
I’m so grateful that I get to do this thing that I love as my job. I’m grateful for all the people that have placed their trust in me to bring these stories to the stage. I’m grateful for the brilliant colleagues I’ve shared these experiences with and the many friendships that have come out of them. I’m grateful for our team of friends and family who have supported us through it all. And most of all I’m grateful for Alyce and my two little ones who make it worthwhile, make it possible and keep it all in perspective.
As we close out 2025, I hope your New Year is joyful and your 2026 is filled with the things you’re hoping for. Big love, friends ❤️😊✨

Last night we closed out ’s season of Carmen at the . It was so special to be a part of this show, singing with the superlative again and covering my good friend singing Moralès.
I saw my very first professional musical at the Regent Theatre when I was 16 years old. I saved up my money and bought a ticket with a friend. I so vividly remember sitting in the Circle at interval, absolutely blown away and dreaming about one day performing on that stage myself. I think 16 year old me would be pretty stoked that we got to ✨🎶🎭
This season has been made even more special by getting to spend each night watching so many of my brilliant friends give exceptional, otherworldly performances in principal roles every show. Feeling very lucky I get to spend so much time with such generous, talented people at the top of their game. 🙏🏾🤩🌹

Thank you Classic Melbourne for the lovely thoughts on our recital for the Lieder Society of Victoria yesterday!
Congratulations, Kiran Rajasingam and Simon Bruckard. Today's concert for the Lieder Society of Victoria at Camberwell Uniting Church was balm for the soul. A program of Schumann''s "Liederkreis", six songs from Butterworth's "A Shropshire Lad" and three Shakespeare's Songs by Roger Quilter is hard to beat. A baritone voice of plush velvet accompanied by a pianist with a high degree of sensitive, thoughtful musicality was a pleasure throughout. A tremendously moving performance of "Mondnacht" was a memorable highlight - spacious, controlled and refined, it revealed the breathtaking beauty of this masterpiece.

Tonight ’s National Tour of La Bohème draws to a close with our final show in Wangaratta.
There is too much to say about this beautiful show, this glorious country we’ve travelled and this utterly extraordinary group of people. It has been such a joy to sing my first season of Colline, and even more special to share it with these spectacular humans. Filled with nothing but gratitude as we wrap this show 👒🖋️🎨🤠
