Our new single “Ode To Saint Cecilie” is out now, alongside a live studio film captured during the recording sessions by

This tune is our tribute to the great Mary Lou Williams — composer, bandleader, and often-overlooked mother of bebop. Written as an offering to the patron saint of music, it carries a dark, devotional groove and a melody that moves through past, present, and future all at once. Playing it feels like stepping into a lineage much bigger than us.

We’ve stayed close to the spirit of the original, honouring a composer whose influence shaped Monk, Dizzy, and Bird — and whose vision still echoes in the music we love today. Featuring a bass solo from our newest member Anton Schulz, recorded live at Oaklands Studio.

Our new single “Inner Beauty” is out now alongside a lovely little live studio film from .

This tune is our tribute to Lonnie Liston Smith, a spirit-jazz lullaby that’s become a quiet ritual at our weekly residency: a collective exhale, a reset, a moment to remember the light in all living things. Recording it felt like stepping into a dreamscape, and Murray managed to capture that softness at Oaklands Studio in a way that feels almost like a tone-poem.

We’re excited for you to hear a gentler side of Play Jazz 3, before things get weird again.
