First Class Automatics
Fist Class Automatics is a family owned and operated Automatic Transmission Specialist Repair shop.
First Class Automatics has been a family owned and operated Brisbane based business since 2015. Our technicians come with decades of expertise in Automatic Transmission servicing, diagnostics, repair and rebuilds. We have locations in Strathpine, North Lakes and Enoggera making us accessible to you. At First Class automatics we provide a first class service, and are determined to diagnose and fix your car right the first time, every time.
The school holidays bring out the best in your vehicle - towing the van, hitting the dirt or sand, taking on a long trip through winding mountain roads. They also bring out the worst in a transmission that isn’t quite ready for it.
Heat, load and elevation are exactly the conditions that expose an existing fault — usually at the worst possible time.
Before you load up and head off, book a pre-holiday inspection or service. If you’re planning anything serious — towing, off-road touring, mountain road trips — talk to us about upgrades that could make the trip easier on your transmission too.
At First Class Automatics, we specialise in automatic transmissions. We’ll make sure your vehicle is genuinely ready for the trip.

This Mazda BT50 came to us in failsafe mode, not shifting gears, and throwing output shaft speed sensor codes. On paper, it looked like a transmission problem.
It wasn’t.
A loose exhaust had melted the wiring harness. Once we replaced the harness and repaired the exhaust, the codes cleared completely. No transmission work required.
This is why a proper diagnostic matters. It’s easy to assume the worst and start pulling transmissions apart, but the right scan, the right eyes, and the right experience tells a different story.
At First Class Automatics, we don’t guess. We find the actual problem.
Transmission fault? Let us take a look before you assume the worst.

Before you hitch up the caravan or load up for a road trip, the health of your automatic transmission is one of the most important things to check, especially if you’re towing. Here’s what we recommend before you go:
1. Transmission service if it’s due (or hasn’t been done in a while)
2. check fluid condition and level; and
3. inspect for any leaks or warning signs.
If you’re unsure we’re here to help with honest advice and peace of mind before you hit the road.
We’re open throughout the school holidays (closed public holidays only), so you’ve still got time to get checked before you go.
Travel safe and enjoy the break.
In the workshop — Nissan X-Trail, 188,000km on the clock and no recorded transmission service history.
As part of every transmission service, we start with a full pre-scan to check for any fault codes and make sure there are no underlying issues. In this case, a couple of unrelated engine sensor faults showed up, which we’ll report back to the owner — but nothing affecting transmission operation.
This particular unit is a sealed transmission, meaning there’s no external filter to replace, so we will carry out a full system flush.
The original fluid came out very dark brown — likely the first service it’s ever had. After a 15L power flush, the new fluid is back to a clean cherry red.
Just a look at what routine transmission maintenance actually involves behind the scenes.
