Due to the inclement weather expected over the coming days we have made the decision to postpone our discus and Javelin pre carnival events that were meant to occur tomorrow to Wednesday 17th June (week 9). More details to come on catch up.

Breakfast Club

The last day for Breakfast Club this term will be Thursday 11 June. It will be closed for weeks 9 and 10. It will reopen in week 2 term 3.

Reconciliation Week Celebrations

As part of Reconciliation Week, a group of students from HSSC travelled to Amaroo Environmental Education Centre to participate in some Reconciliation Week cultural activities.

Students started the afternoon with a smoking ceremony led by Mrs Poole. They then tried their hand at fire starting, grinding seeds to flour, Indigenous games, and bushwalking.

Students also had traditionally prepared Johnny cakes with syrup for afternoon tea.

Thankyou to Karen & Selena from Amaroo Environmental Education Centre for their hard work in putting the activities and our delicious afternoon tea together.

Technology news
The Technology Department’s expansion plans have officially reached “we need a bigger shed” status.

Thanks to a generous grant from Heritage Bank, we have been able to purchase a storage container to house the ever-growing collection of materials, projects, tools and the occasional item that nobody quite remembers buying.

A huge thank you to Heritage Bank for supporting local schools and helping us create more opportunities for students to design, build and create. We’re not saying our ITD Department is taking over the school… but we now have our own container.

🎓 100 school days to go!

The countdown is officially on for the Class of 2026, with just 100 school days remaining until graduation.

As we celebrate this milestone, we’re inviting our Year 12 students to be in the mix-get involved, make memories, support one another, and embrace every opportunity that comes your way. The next 100 days will fly by, so make them count.

Here’s to the final 100 school days of laughter, learning, friendships and unforgettable moments. 💙💛

A huge congratulations to our talented instrumental music students and staff who competed in the regional heats of Fanfare yesterday. After months of preparation, our ensembles performed incredibly well and received the following awards:

Concert Band - Platinum Award
Jazz Ensemble - Gold Award
Combined Highfields SSC and Toowoomba SHS String Ensemble - Silver Award

🍽️ Hospitality in Action! 🍽️

Our Year 12 Hospitality B students recently showcased their skills as part of their IA2 assessment, hosting a casual dining experience for parents, carers and grandparents.

Guests were welcomed into a beautifully presented dining room, complete with white tablecloths, floral centrepieces, menus and table numbers, creating an authentic restaurant atmosphere. The menu featured a refreshing cold drink on arrival, followed by a delicious sausage curry served with mashed potato and rice, and finished with a warm apple turnover, ice cream and a hot beverage.

Students demonstrated their skills in table service, food preparation and customer service throughout the event, with some even having the opportunity to share the experience alongside their invited guests.

The feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many asking when the next event would be held! Congratulations to our Hospitality students on delivering such a successful and professional dining experience. We look forward to seeing what they achieve next.
