🌸🎶 Carnival of Flowers Performance 🎶🌸

Music filled the air at the Botanic Gardens this morning as our talented HSSC Jazz, Saxophone and Vocal Ensembles took to the stage as part of the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers celebrations.

A huge congratulations to all of our incredible student performers for showcasing their talent, confidence and passion for music. You represented Highfields State Secondary College with pride and brought wonderful energy to this iconic community event.

WorldSkills Regional Challenge 2026 🛠️🏆

Over the past two days, Highfields State Secondary College students proudly represented our college in the WorldSkills Regional Challenge, competing alongside students from Pittsworth SHS, Wilsonton SHS and St Joseph’s College.

The competition gave our students the opportunity to showcase their trade skills, problem-solving abilities and professionalism in a real-world industry setting. We are incredibly proud of the way they represented HSSC throughout the challenge!

A big thank you to Blue Dog Training - RTO 31193, Certified Mining Services, and BMS Mitre 10 - Toowoomba 10 for supporting this fantastic event and helping provide such valuable industry experiences for our students.

Now the wait begins! 🤞 Regional winners will be compared against competitors from across Queensland, with the top student invited to compete at the WorldSkills National Finals in Adelaide next year.

Congratulations to all of our students for giving it their best and representing HSSC with pride! 💙💛

Final P&C meeting this term!

From Fleece to Felt! 🐑🧶

Our Year 12 Agricultural Practices students had a fantastic hands-on learning experience with Marilyn from the Toowoomba Spinners Weavers & Dyers Group, who demonstrated how raw sheep fleece can be transformed into felt.

Students learnt the traditional process of carding wool before processing the fleece into felt, gaining valuable insight into value-adding agricultural products and the journey from paddock to product.

A huge thank you to Marilyn and the Toowoomba Spinners and Weavers for sharing your knowledge, skills and passion with our students. We greatly appreciate your support in bringing this practical learning experience to life! 💙💛
