This is it, the final episode of You Can't Ask That - Pelvic Health Edition. Did we save the best for last? You decide, but this one definitely got Jess worked up! 😉
The topic? Female pleasure education. And painful s*x after having a baby.
💔 Pain during s*x after having a baby. Common? Yes. Normal? No, it shouldn't be normalised.
Do we do enough education on female pleasure? S*x before or after the six-week check? And finally, the biggest mistake people make returning to exercise postpartum? Learn it all in this final Reel.
Thank you for following along with this series. We hope it's given you answers, reassurance, and maybe a few things worth sharing with someone you love. 💚

They did not rip, or tear. And DRAM - abdominal separation - is a normal, natural, healthy part of pregnancy. But what happens next matters, and Jess and Rach explain exactly what recovery looks like postpartum.
Athletes need pelvic floor training too: being fit does not necessarily mean your pelvic floor is functioning well. It needs to be coordinated, knowing when to contract and when to relax. And in athletic populations, high tone is actually really common, which needs it's own approach.
Leaking during running or jumping, pain from a high-tone pelvic floor, symptoms of heaviness or bulge ... these are not things to train around.
Just one more episode to come!
Save this one, share it, and tag your athlete friends who think this doesn't apply to them.
"Damage is not a word that I would use." 👀
Jess and Rach are back, and this time we've shifted to postpartum, starting with the topic that comes up more than almost any other.
Leaking. 💧
Why does it happen when I run, jump, or sneeze? Is it actually normal? How do I know when my pelvic floor is strong enough to return to running? And can I damage it by going back too soon?
Don't carry these questions quietly. Watch in full and share with someone in their postpartum period who needs to hear it.

Get to know Rach a little better, and hear her exciting news. 🥳
From July 1, Rachel is officially a Director at Gen Health Hamilton, joining Jess, Carl, Steph, Tess and Mel in leading this incredible clinic.
Rachel's journey with Gen Health began back in 2016, when she moved from Adelaide to Hamilton to start her first job as a new graduate physiotherapist. Over her first four years, we had the privilege of watching her grow into an exceptional clinician, leader and teammate. Ready for a new adventure, Rachel spread her wings and headed to Darwin, where she spent four years building her expertise in sports physiotherapy, learning alongside great clinicians and further developing her passion for helping people stay active and perform at their best. When the opportunity came to return home, she came back to what she describes as her "Hamilton family and community", bringing with her new knowledge, fresh perspectives, and an even greater passion for physiotherapy.
If you've been following our You Can't Ask That - Pelvic Health series, you'll already know why this next chapter feels perfectly timed. Alongside this announcement, Rachel is now taking bookings for Pelvic Health patients, having recently completed her APA Women's Pelvic Health Level 1 & 2. 🙌
Ask her about her book recommendations and be prepared to be there a while. Outside the clinic you'll find her at the beach, camping, attempting to garden (self-described rookie 🌱), or somewhere with Pedro (her very large dog) and those she loves most.
We are so proud of you. Congratulations, Director. 🗣️

The questions we hear most from pregnant people about pain, pelvic girdle discomfort, and whether exercise is actually helping or hurting.
Pelvic Girdle Pain, pushing your body too hard during exercise, abdominal training and new evidence! With more to come on leaking, postpartum recovery, returning to sport, and more.

.. more to come on postpartum recovery, returning to sport, and more.
"Poor relaxin gets blamed for everything!" 😂
Jess and Rach are back for the final pregnancy-related episode of You Can't Ask That - Pelvic Health Edition - before we shift to a postpartum focus.
Lifting weights while pregnant? Not only safe but important for what's coming in postpartum. Why your hips and pelvis hurt (spoiler: relaxin is innocent 👀), and how to tell if you are actually pushing too hard during exercise.
Watch til the end to learn about emerging evidence which suggests that abdominal training during pregnancy can assist during the pushing phase of labour and support recovery from abdominal separation postpartum.
Jess and Rach are busting myths, clarifying the confusing, and giving it to you straight.
This week: how hard you can actually exercise during pregnancy, what to do if you have pelvic girdle pain, and what "high risk pregnancy" actually means for your exercise routine - it's far more nuanced than most people realise.
The 140bpm rule? Gone. Long gone. 👋

Following on from our You Can't Ask That - Pelvic Health Edition with Jess and Rach, we have put the answers in writing. These questions are ones we think every person navigating pregnancy or the postpartum period deserves to have access to.
This first instalment covers exercise during pregnancy ... how much, how hard, and what is actually safe. Including a few things that might surprise you.
More to come covering leaking, postpartum recovery, pelvic girdle pain, returning to sport, and more.
Save this one, share it with someone who needs it, and keep an eye out for the rest of the series.
Still think you need to take it easy the moment you find out you're pregnant? 👀
Jess and Rach are back for round two of You Can't Ask That - Pelvic Health Edition, and this one is for every pregnant woman who's been told to slow down without really being told why.
Here's what the evidence actually says:
🏃♀️ Running cannot harm your baby.
💪 Strength training during pregnancy isn't just safe, it's encouraged.
🤰 Exercise during pregnancy can improve your health, your baby's health, your delivery outcomes, and your postpartum recovery.
The one thing Jess and Rach are clear on: don't take up running for the first time during pregnancy. That one doesn't get the green light. 😄
More to come in this series. Keep them coming.
