A Bush Fire Information Point will be set up tomorrow, Friday 2 October, to provide community members with information on fires burning across the Tenterfield area.

We encourage both local residents and visitors to the area for the Peter Allen Festival to come along and speak with RFS members about the current fire situation, bush fire preparedness and any questions you may have.

The information point will be located at the following location:

DONNYBROOK FIRE UPDATE

Residents in the Jennings and Wallangarra areas may notice an increase in smoke from the Donnybrook Fire today.

Firefighters from NSW are conducting backburning operations at the Donnybrook Fire Trail Fire, west of Jennings and Wallangarra, to strengthen containment lines.

Motorists in the area are urged to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of firefighters.

If you have a medical condition that may be affected by smoke, stay indoors, close all windows and doors, and follow your medical management plan.

A huge thank you to all the volunteers who have been working tirelessly over recent days to contain this fire and protect local communities. We would also like to acknowledge and thank the crews who have travelled from across the state to assist with firefighting efforts. Your dedication, professionalism and support are greatly appreciated.

Advice: Ogilvie Rd Fire, Tabulam (Tenterfield LGA) - Contained
The Ogilvie Rd Fire, burning between the Timbarra River and Bushy Dr, 10km southeast of Drake, has now been listed as contained.

While firefighters have worked hard to strengthen containment lines and bring the fire under control, those in the vicinity should continue to monitor conditions and stay up to date with the latest information.

Unfortunately, thunderstorms have moved through the area, with dry lightning starting several new fires. Property owners are urged to inspect their properties when safe to do so and call Triple Zero (000) if they can see an unattended fire.

Thanks to the incredible work of firefighters, aviation resources and heavy machinery operators, both the Ogilvie Road Fire and Cheviot Hill Road Fire are now contained.

Firefighters from NSW and QLD are backburning at Donnybrook Fire Trail Fire west of Jennings and Wallangarra to strengthen containment.

Aerial incendiary operations will be conducted today at the Ogilvie Road Fire South of Tabulam to also strengthen containment.

Motorists in the area, please drive to the conditions and take directions from firefighters.

🛑 Fire permits in the Inverell and Tenterfield LGAs have been suspended‼
With fires already burning and fire danger increasing, do not light or continue a burn under a suspended permit.

Breaches will be investigated and could lead to fines or prosecution. If a fire escapes, it could threaten lives and property and bring more serious consequences. Please help keep further fire out of the landscape.🚒🚫⚠️
