Practical Wisdom
Practical Wisdom, striving to bring back creativity, common sense and joy into the way we live our lives.
Our modern lives are becoming faster and faster which means that often what we see is blurred and incomplete, what we learn is what floats on the surface and how we live our lives can lack connection and relationships. Practical Wisdom is a term used by Arostotle for the life attitude of living our lives with respect for making the right decision for the moment and with an eye on what is the right

One year on our food forest is thriving and our children are becoming familiar with the natural world in a way few children get to in todays world. All this wonderful produce ends up as delicious food after the children have participated in its growth, harvest and preparation. 😊
This is a reflection on todays adventures by mentor Denise.
The cooler weather this morning was perfect for a walk to the food forest, where you were surrounded by sensory stimulation, you all saw so much and joined in with naming everything in sight boosting your vocabulary, the blue tractor filled us with curiosity and you listened to your mentors as they explained that we all need to be aware of vehicles when walking behind them as they may be moving,, many of you were excited to see Gardener Emma’s friendly and gentle dog. In the garden you saw an array of vegetables, herbs and fruit growing, your mentors explained how fruit ripens and explained how we only pick it once it’s ready, you even got to taste yummy tomatoes and peas, the artichokes had produced beautiful purple flowers which the bees were attracted too, we also saw ants and ladybugs. We finished with a few whizzes down the slide before heading back to wash our hands ready for lunch, what fantastic walking you all did great for further strengthening those little legs ! Throughout the afternoon we have been talking about our food forest adventure and Mentor Denise was excited to hear you recalling many of the objects that you had seen expressing your increasing cognitive skills 🤩

Children love to play in mud. And refugee children are no exception. This weekend, children (and adults) from around the world will participate in WORLD MUD DAY experiences. Exploring, bathing and playing in mud, clay and sand, humans from vastly different life circumstances will let go and experience the messiness, joy and connectedness that elements of our Earth provide.
Thank you to our long-time friends Nature’s Atelier, Tia and Gillian McAuliffe, World Forum Foundation, and our partners at Action for Education for coordinating this meaningful experience and fundraiser for the women and children who visit our Nest in Samos. We are so grateful. International Mud Day

The Nature’s Atelier children are bringing a little joy to the lives of the children in refugee camps in Greece. The beds have arrived with Tia and she reports that the children love to play with them. Empathy and understanding are such important values for us to foster. We are in awe of their understanding and compassion.
