Photographs of me in my studio by

The first one is of me as I am now, with photos behind me from when I was 17, my first year at The South Australian School of Art, when it was in Stanley St. North Adelaide.

There are some studio shots, shots of me in my garden, and also in relation to my beloved Westernport Bay. She gave pictures for me to use for my story, and pictures of me in my life.

Bri is an extraordinary photographer and artist, I felt seen on many levels.
She captured deep portraits of me in my different facets.

Brilliant show, such well presented, perfect music and with a detailed history of these two extraordinary women fashion artists, is so inspiring and stimulating.

Also brought back many memories from the 70’s and 80’s- goose bumps galore!! 🤩✨🌟✨
So very different from one another, beyond being opposites, they mid-wifed in a whole new era of fashion/culture/media and value systems.

‘Hands of the World’ 1986
polyclay, metallic threads. Sterling silver.

This was how I started making jewellery!
I must have made hundreds and hundreds of pairs of hands out of Fimo and stones, threads all sort of things. Each pair was unique, as I had imagined who they belonged to)

This necklace was shown at a gallery in Armadale called ‘Indigenous’.

I’d love to know what sort of life it’s had? Maybe you know who has it?

Or if you ever bought my hand earrings in the mid eighties, I’d love to hear from you.

Photographed by Rod McNichol, recently passed 😥(wasn’t his usual gig, but he was very kindly helping me out at the time).

I have some photos he took of me too, which I’ll post here soon.

The beautiful Danielle modelling my large ‘marquise’ earrings around 15 years ago in my then
Collingwood studio. These ones were all Swarovski crystal and 22ct gold-plated brass chains and components. I still have all the components if anyone has to have a pair!

It would be a novelty these days for me to sit at my bench making them. 🩷

🦂It’s Scorpio time!

Scorpio a Fixed Water sign, ruled by Pluto. The other Fixed signs are your opposite Ta**us, and the squares to Scorpio are Leo and Aquarius.
The fixity is expressed as qualities of focus and concentrated energy, and on the other side stubbornness, and digging your heals in.
The properties of the Water signs are emotions, feeling, and the traversing amongst those.

♏️

You can either dive into the deep waters of existence, immersing your Soul in the balms of stillness and forbearance, or into the darkness of oblivion and disheartenment.

Scorpio’s often live in the extremes. It is these experiences that you gather your powers, and wisdom.

These images are of a range of jewellery I created in the mid nineties called ‘Amazon’, long before the online behemoth we all know about now, it was my homage to that gigantic river in South America that runs through many countries and is vitally important to the whole world as the biggest carbon sink on the planet.

I sourced the fabulous vintage box chain from a German chain maker and had it plated in this super shiny 22ct gold. (I still have some!)

I never met the photographer, but recently received the photos from the marketing director of that shoot.
It brought back memories of that time. The bold shiny gold went right against the ‘trend’ being shown in the glossies at that time. I’ve always had a bit of rebelliousness!
