this board wasn't planned as the centrepiece of our booth β but it became one π₯Ή
we asked "what reminds you of home?" and people stopped, picked up a marker, and wrote in their language. arabic, tagalog, mandarin, hindi, nepali, maltese, swahili, malay, polish, tamil, korean β and so many more.
some wrote a word. some wrote a feeling. someone wrote "sambal goreng (malay / singapore / malaysia)" β and if that doesn't make you hungry and homesick at the same time, we can't help you π
that's what DiversAbilities is built around. Connection. Conversations. Culture. Collaboration. Contribution. the Capacity to show up as your whole self β and see your language on a board at an expo and think, oh, someone thought of me.
thank you to every single person who stopped by, wrote something down, asked questions, or just stayed for a chat. you made this weekend what it was.
if you haven't already β join DiversAbilities. it's free, it's multilingual, and it's built for communities like yours.

Did you know Australia recently welcomed its one-millionth refugee since the end of World War II? π
To mark this milestone, Australia Post is releasing a commemorative stamp during World Refugee Week 2026. So this year we are reflecting the journeys of refugees who have made Australia home.
Behind that number are one million individual stories. Stories of leaving, rebuilding, adapting, and contributing to communities across the country.
From business owners and healthcare workers to artists, teachers, neighbours, and friends, refugees have helped shape the Australia we know today.

πβ¨ Culture. Community. Connection.
We were proud sponsors of Mela Carnival this year β and what a day π
Performances, food, dancing, and more conversations than we could count. Events like Mela are exactly the kind of space we want to be in β everyone together, every background welcome. Thatβs what DiversAbilities is here for.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by the booth to say hello! We loved every minute.

Community Conversations - Ethopian & Eritrean Community
Come for the buna, stay for the conversations!
Weβre getting together with the Ethiopian and Eritrean community to talk about the supports, services, and rights that exist for all of us β and how to actually reach them. You donβt need a diagnosis or an NDIS plan to come!
Most people donβt know what theyβre entitled to until someone tells them, and a lot of what weβll cover is for you, your parents, your neighbour, or someone youβll want to pass it on to.
Ethiopian coffee and lunch are on us! Come along and bring someone with you.

"The platform (Diversabilities) is making it easier for us to find what we are after."
Finding the right support shouldn't mean losing your language along the way. Iman Khalaf is a Support Coordinator at QCS β and she uses DiversAbilities to help her Arabic-speaking clients and community find what they need, in the language they think in.
For Iman, it comes down to four things: connection, collaboration, compassion, community.
That's what DiversAbilities was built around. Not a directory you scroll through hoping for the best β a platform where CALD communities can find services, peer support, events, and resources that were designed with them in mind.
If you or someone in your community could use this visit: diversabilities.com.au
