Happy New Year to all our JETAA members and friends. We'd like to invite you to our 2026 shinnenkai, which will be a picnic in Haig Park. Bring your family or friends and a bento, or maybe some food from the nearby multicultural festival happening nearby in town! Meet us at 12 pm at the corner of Lonsdale and Girrahween St - the tram stops just nearby at Ipima Street Station. 🌳

There were so many great events and memories for JETAA Canberra this year, big (like the Oceania conference) and small (like karaoke with friends and practicing Japanese together).

It was our great pleasure to host the 2025 JET Alumni Association Oceania Conference here in Canberra earlier this month. Our sincere thanks to His Excellency Ambassador Suzuki for hosting the welcome reception. We would also like to thank Executive Advisor Kitano and the members of CLAIR Tokyo and Sydney for their participation. And of course, all the representatives from JETAA chapters all over the Oceania region who came! It was a very productive weekend of discussion and strengthening our connections. It's always a privilege to continue engagement as an alumni after JET. See everyone next year!

Only 10 days to go will the Nara Candle Festival! This year AJS Canberra will be serving ' All Things Matcha': matcha cheesecake, matcha cream daifuku and matcha mont blanc. These won't be the only flavours. I

If you are looking for something savoury, try the new onigiri in town! For drinks you can pair with the famous melon or grape soda, a nice asahi beer, or perhaps visit our sake store, where you can partake in a Sake Tasting as part of AJS Canberra. You better not miss out!!
