‘Go and be happy': Why Group 1 trainer is closing her stable - Racenet Trailblazing trainer Natalie McCall, who made history as the first woman to win the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap, has opened up on her decision to close her stable.

⭐️ STABLE ANNOUNCEMENT ⭐️

After much consideration, I have made the difficult decision to close my business.

This has not been an easy decision to make. It has been an absolute privilege to have had the opportunity to work with all of my clients, staff and supporters. I am incredibly grateful for the trust, loyalty and support you have shown me throughout the years.

My business has been so much more than simply a place of work. The relationships I have built with my clients and colleagues have meant a great deal to me, and I will always look back on this chapter with gratitude and many wonderful memories.

Thank you sincerely for your support, your loyalty and for allowing me to be a part of your lives. I truly could not have done this without you.

While this is the end of my training journey, I hope it is not the end of the friendships and connections I have made along the way.

With heartfelt thanks and warmest wishes for the future,

Nat 🩵

Amazing 🩵🩵

On October 27, 2019, a little grey foal was facing immediate peril after his mother ROSES FOR DEB died during birth.

By some miraculous intervention, a nearby mare named SHIGERU SENDAN gave birth to another c**t by the same stallion, MERCHANT NAVY, within a 24-hour window of ROSES FOR DEB passing.

Thanks to the swift action of the team at Fernrigg Farm, the little grey foal, affectionately named ‘RONNIE’, was introduced to SHIGERU SENDAN and the foster mother accepted him as one of her own, raising both c**ts to become successful racehorses, known as NAVAL TRADER (Ronnie) and PIRAEUS.

Last year at the races in Brisbane, we were able to reunite the brothers for the first time in 5 years and safe to say they recognised each other!

We reflect on this remarkable story as we have retired NAVAL TRADER from racing. He has been placed in the expert care of one of his former track riders Bec Young!
