From the Sunshine Coast to Finland — once a Lighthouse player, always part of the Caloundra Rugby family.

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate former Caloundra Rugby player Aaro Katainen who has been awarded Best Coach of 2026 in Finland! 🇫🇮

Aaro wore the black and gold across multiple seasons — 2017–18, 2019–20 and again in 2023 — building friendships, memories and experiences that extended far beyond the rugby field.

Caloundra Rugby played a huge role in Aaro’s development as a player, and it’s fantastic to see that influence continuing into his coaching journey.

From pulling on the Lighthouse jersey, repping the Caloundra tie at his wedding to the amazing Eve Sapattinen (also wore the Black & Yellow) to now being recognised among the best coaches in Finland — what an incredible journey! 👏

2026 QSRU WOMEN’S REPRESENTATIVE SQUAD

We’re proud to announce the players selected to represent QSRU in our 2026 Women’s Representative Squad.

Following a highly competitive trial and selection process, these players have earned the opportunity to pull on the QSRU jersey and represent our clubs and wider Subbies community.

A huge thank you to every player who put themselves forward and took part in the trial process. We appreciate the effort and commitment shown throughout and hope to see many of you back again next year.

Selection is just the beginning. This group will now come together with a focus on hard work, humility, commitment and representing QSRU with pride.

Congratulations to all players selected, we can’t wait to see what this group can achieve together.
