At PMC we understand that every job has its individual requirements which is why we supply custom access panels such as fire rated panels, acoustic panels, security panels and also custom sized panels.

Fire rated panels are specifically designed panels that provide access to concealed spaces while maintaining fire resistance in buildings. These panels are assigned fire ratings based on their ability to withstand fire for a specific duration, such as 1 hour, 2 hours as well as 2 hour 2 way panels.

•Acoustic Panels 🔊 (Pictured on right)

Acoustic panels are specialised panels designed to provide access to concealed spaces while also offering soundproofing or acoustic insulation properties. Commonly used in environments where noise control is priority, such as theatres, recording studios, conference rooms etc. Acoustic panels are assigned ratings that indicate their effectiveness in reducing sound transmission, expressed in decibels (dB).

PMC Cairns will be closed Monday 18th December 2023 due to excessive flooding causing extensive road closures. At this point a number of roads in and around Cairns are cut with flood waters. We will attempt to make contact with everyone who booked deliveries for Monday in an effort to discuss rescheduling. We will be operating a skeleton crew and will only open for pickups if it is safe to do so.
We hope everyone stays high and dry for the next few days.

As we anticipate the impact of Cyclone Jasper in our region, we are advising that Tomorrow, Wednesday 13th December our Cairns Branch will be temporarily closed. At this stage we anticipate it will be safe to open for business again 6am Thursday 14th December 2023.

PMC recently supplied some Barestone Cladding to a stunning property in Tolga. In this region, high temperatures and humidity are common as well as large amounts of rainfall in the wet season. It was decided that high-quality fibre cement cladding would be the most suitable option for the exterior of the property. Barestone is available in four different tones/colours and is easily installed using the ‘express wall framing system’.

Recently, PMC supplied Exotec Fibre Cement Exterior Panels to Estia On Arlington.

Estia on Arlington is a residential project being built by St John’s Community Care to provide senior citizens with safe and comfortable living options. The development comprises of two-bedroom apartments, specifically designed to meet the needs of older individuals and help them maintain their independence.

The construction work has commenced and is expected to be finished by the end of 2023. The project is situated in a prime location right on the foreshore of Clifton Beach overlooking the ocean. PMC was selected by KEIR Constructions to supply and deliver the Exotec Facade Panels which are being installed around the top of the building. One of the buildings already has the panels installed and painted and a cool teal colour has been chosen to complement the natural environment surrounding the apartments.

Being situated right on the foreshore, the panels need to be able to withstand harsh elements such as strong winds which are fairly common in this area while also being resistant to the heat and humidity of the tropics. It was decided that James Hardie’s Exotec Panels would be the most suitable solution for this project.

3 Reasons why it’s important to use Furring Channel in Wet Areas: 🚿

• Structural Integrity 💪

Furring Channels provide a sturdy framework onto which Villaboard or Wet Area Plasterboard can be securely attached. This ensures the surface remains flat, level, and capable of supporting the weight of tiles and other fixtures.

•Ventilation

Furring Channels create a small but essential air gap between the board and the structural elements of the wall. The gap allows moisture to dissipate rather than being trapped within the wall. This is especially important in high-humidity areas like North Queensland.

Are you compliant with the revised fastener standards?

As of the 1st of May 2023, the standard for “design of post-installed and cast-in fastenings in concrete’ has evolved. The recently released AS 5216:2021 introduces additional requirements for assessing fastener safety.

The most relevant change impacting post-installer anchors is the introduction of design for fasteners under seismic action.
