Vale the Rev Prof Jione Havea who passed away in Tonga on 29 April.
This image captures books from the Roscoe Library written or edited by Jione, as well as those where he has contributed chapters (other books are on loan or not visible in this photograph!).
From an obituary written by the General Secretary, Council for World Mission: “Rev. Dr Havea was widely recognised as a mentor of exceptional depth and generosity. His teaching, marked by honesty, humility, and intellectual courage, has shaped ministries, congregations, and academic institutions across the world.” (Link to obituary in the comments below).

Do visit … it’s good for you!
Now there’s research to prove it!
A new study released today reveals what we’ve long known… That libraries are good for you, and the community benefits of libraries consistently outweigh the costs.
In surveys of over 6000 NSW residents, the report found that people who visit libraries have higher self-reported health and wellbeing – and the more they visit, the better they feel.
In a time of misinformation, social isolation and global book bans, this report is a vital reminder of the value and importance of libraries.
You can read the full report on our website: https://www.sl.nsw.gov.au/about/about-library/balancing-books
This research was commissioned by the State Library of NSW and undertaken by SGS Economics, Planning and Prescience Research (2025) and Cred Consulting and Taverner Research Group (2024).
Many people are thinking seriously about switching to EVs. There is a lot of misinformation out there, so if you know people who would like to hear about real-life experiences from EV owners and ask any questions please let them know about this:
