Water Warriors – Weekend Edition 💙
Saturday afternoon water fun with friends and family… and honestly, this is what it’s all about!
In this snap it’s me, my 2-year-old nephew Caleb, 5-year-old Izaac, and Berni's grandson Dom — splashing, laughing, climbing out, jumping back in, doing monkeys, rockets and everything in between.
No drills.
No pressure.
Just connection, play and joy in the water.
And here’s the magic ✨
Every splash builds confidence.
Every laugh builds trust.
Every bit of water time counts — for kiddies and adults!
The more time we spend in the water, the more comfortable, capable and confident we all become… without even realising it.
Water doesn’t have to be serious to be powerful.
Sometimes it’s just family, fun and feeling good 💙

Today we are giving a huge thumbs up to adaptive surf wear and what true inclusion looks like in the water.
Bernadette is wearing a custom made, disability-specific modified wetsuit, individually designed and altered to support her functional abilities, sensory needs, temperature regulation, and safe participation in aquatic activities.
This is not off-the-shelf clothing — it has been purpose-built to meet her disability-related support requirements.
This incredible wetsuit has been customised by the amazing Mark and team at R J W E T S U I T S
And honestly… it is the BIGGEST game changer ever!
Today marked a huge step forward — we threw away the life vest that had been used to guide Berni through the waves. With this custom designed wetsuit, we simply didn’t need it anymore.
Today was pure FREEDOM in the water.
We are so grateful to have R J W E T S U I T S right on our doorstep, and we must say — these guys are the complete package (which is rare these days):

We are so excited to welcome another beautiful certified instructor into our Bub and Me Aqua Active Instructor community 💙
A massive welcome to Lauren, who is bringing heart, purpose, and passion into the water with Bub and Me Aqua Active to VIC!!!!
Let me introduce Lauren and share her story 👇
What do you love to teach in the water?
I love teaching babies and preschoolers! It’s amazing to see them learn and progress — and they are so cute!
Why did you become a swim instructor?
I started working in the office first, then my son, who has profound autism, began 1:1 swimming lessons. Swimming brought him so much happiness and made a huge difference to our lives when we go to the pool. That experience really inspired me to help other children have the same opportunity to learn, grow, and be safe in the water.
How long have you lived in Victoria?
All my life 🤪
What did you do before getting into the aquatics industry?
I worked in admin in financial planning before kids, then explored a few creative side hustles — jewellery making and custom gift/lolly boxes. I love to create.
What does the aquatics industry make you feel?
Connection and purpose!
Favourite food?
Chocolate 🍫
Favourite colour?
Yellow 💛
Something friends would be surprised to know about you?
I’ve written a book that I hope to publish one day soon…
What do Sundays look like for you?
Sleeping in, reading, catching up with my book club friends, or heading to a winery with my family for a platter.

“I’m Bernadette. I’m 66 and I live with MS.
For a long time, exercise felt like a chore — repetitive, tiring, something I had to push through.
Turning my routine on its head and taking it into the ocean has changed everything.
Now it’s fun. It’s stimulating. It builds strength, FREEDOM, and confidence.
I’m learning to relax — to stay engaged without everything feeling stressful or hard work.
This is what living well with MS (or any disability) can look like: letting go, being supported, and letting the fun guide you.
Having the support that encourages a bit of ‘craziness’ — like swimming at the beach on days like today — makes all the difference.

⭐ What an incredible night at the 2026 Yellow Dove Gala Dinner! ⭐
We may spend 99% of our time in the water, but last night we had the absolute pleasure of stepping out of our aquatic world to dress up and join the annual fundraising gala hosted by Yellow Dove Australia at the Stamford Plaza in Brisbane City.
Yellow Dove Australia emerged with a singular purpose: to serve and uplift communities within underserved and marginalised areas — embodying sustainable, empowering, and healthy change for community, in community, by community.
This mission is truly inspiring and something we’re so grateful to have learned more about in person.
✨ The evening was fun-filled, heartfelt, and beautifully executed — and it’s not every day we get to dust off our glad rags!

We’re just finalising the exact session time as we work with the tides and ocean conditions. The start time may shift around 30 minutes earlier or later, and we’ll have this confirmed by tomorrow afternoon with plenty of notice.
As soon as times are confirmed, we’ll send through your online invoice so we can lock in your spot.
These sessions are all about:
• Supportive, fun, confidence-building surf & beach time
• Starting shallow and moving at your own pace
• All abilities welcome
• Families, friends, carers and support crew encouraged
• Soaking up that beautiful salty goodness 🌊
The sun is out, the water is crystal clear and shimmering, and it’s shaping up to be a perfect morning at the beach.
