In all the years he's been running Power Torque, you'd never hear this story from him. Mark doesn't talk about himself. So we'll do it for him.

Bathurst, 1995. Mark and Kevin Waldock in an EF Falcon. Started 24th. Finished 8th.

Sixteen places made up around the Mountain, and he's never once brought it up at the workshop.

Audi RS6. Phase 1 done. 🔥

The factory exhaust came off and the Akrapovič system went on, with wiring run for the valves. Carbon tips and a much meaner voice for the twin-turbo V8.

Up front, the Eventuri carbon intake replaces the factory airbox. It looks the part, and it's also the airflow this car needs for what comes next.

Next up was the Stage 2 tune. When we went to read the ECU, it was locked. Plenty of late-model Euro ECUs come locked from the factory, so this one's off to be unlocked before we go any further.

It's back in Monday for the unlock, downpipes, intercoolers and the Stage 2 tune. Dyno numbers in Part 2.

This HSV Clubsport came in for a full engine-out rebuild. Not a bolt-on. Not a part-by-part job. One planned build, start to finish.

What went in:
- Engine out for full access
- Cam package with upgraded rocker trunnions
- CNC-ported cylinder heads
- Race balancer, all gaskets replaced
- Harrop FDFI 2300 supercharger
- Twin-plate clutch
- In-tank fuel pump upgrade
- New O2 sensors, AC line and regas
- Full custom dyno tune

Even we can't agree in the workshop on what stage to call it.

Two runs, two peak numbers — but the number on its own doesn't tell you which one's actually better.

Look at the curves instead. The red run hits its peak earlier and holds it longer through the mid-range — that's the one you'd actually feel from behind the wheel, every time you're on the throttle before redline. The blue run peaks higher at the top but gets there later and falls away quicker once it's past it.

That's why a dyno sheet is never just about the top number. Where the curve builds, how flat it stays, and where it drops off all matter more than the single biggest figure at the very end of the pull.

When we tune a car, we're shaping that whole curve to suit how it's actually driven — not just chasing a number for the sheet.

282.6kW / 378.9HP at the rear.

HSV GTS — MCA Pro Comfort coilovers, full Hurricane exhaust with ceramic coated extractors and twin 3" 409 stainless steel system, VCM OTR, custom dyno tune. Dialled in on the Mainline until the curve was clean.

The plate says PUREV8. The dyno agrees.

A proper cam upgrade doesn't start with a cam. It starts with the engine on a stand.

This HSV Grange came in for a cam package — but before anything goes near the heads, the whole engine comes out for a full inspection, clean and reseal. No shortcuts, no reusing tired gaskets just to save a step.

With the heads off and the block prepped, the new cam package goes in, along with a fresh set of ceramic coated headers, ready for the Hurricane exhaust system.

Retune and dyno numbers coming later in the week...
