Rocky Creek Adventure!

Over the weekend, our Thursday Scouts (ages 11–14) enjoyed an action-packed camp at Rocky Creek Scout Campsite, just outside Landsborough.

The Scouts challenged themselves with abseiling, made shepherd slings from paracord before turning them into survival bracelets, and even made the trek into Landsborough for a well-earned ice cream and a play on the local playground.

Scout camps are also about developing independence. Our Scouts planned, shopped for and cooked all their own meals, while camping together in Patrols and sharing responsibility for making camp run smoothly.

A big thank you to all the Leaders who enabled our Scouts to enjoy a fantastic weekend of adventure, practical skills, teamwork and plenty of fun.

💙 Happy Father’s Day! 💙

Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads, Father figures and significant male role models who love, support and guide our Youth Members.

This week, our Joeys and Cubs, along with our Friday Scouts, invited the special men in their lives to join them at the Den and share in some Scouting fun!

🚁 Tuesday Joeys built helicopters from cups and proudly shared the BBQ sauce they made the week before.

🧁 Tuesday Cubs designed and decorated cupcakes before taking on a game of Poison Alley.

🔥 Wednesday Joeys enjoyed making jaffles over the campfire.

⚜️ Wednesday Cubs put their Scouting skills on display and shared them with their special guests.

🔥 Friday Scouts finished the week by cooking up some tasty treats over the campfire.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us during the week. We hope all our Dads and Father figures have a fantastic Father’s Day!

🚀 Wednesday Cubs Blast Off! 🌟

Over the weekend, our Wednesday Cubs enjoyed a space-themed Den sleepover packed with STEM, teamwork and adventure!

Our young astronauts tackled an astronaut training course, explored the Solar System, made planispheres, designed and launched bottle rockets, and took on an Apollo 13-inspired rescue mission. 🌙🪐

The Cubs also launched their own STEM & Innovation Special Interest Area projects, giving them the chance to keep investigating, creating and experimenting at home.

A huge thank you to our amazing Leaders and parent helpers for making the weekend possible and helping our Cubs complete their mission! 🚀

🍽️ The Smokey Spoon 🍽️

For one special night each year, the Bracken Ridge Scout Den is transformed into one of Brisbane’s finest dining establishments, the Smokey Spoon!

Complete with mood lighting, French-inspired menus, live entertainment, attentive waiter service and delicious food, it was a dining experience to remember.

Our amazing Thursday Scouts (ages 11-14) planned and served a three-course meal for their families, keeping everyone well fed and entertained throughout the evening.

A huge thank you to our dedicated Leaders for supporting the Scouts and helping bring the Smokey Spoon to life.

Over the weekend some of our Venturers (ages 14-17) and Rovers (ages 18-25) attended Roventure, a fantastic Scouting Adventure run by Rover Scouts Queensland

🔥 Backyard Bonanza 2026! 🔥

On Sunday, Bracken Ridge Scouts were once again privileged to be part of Backyard Bonanza (BYB), the biggest community event of the year in Bracken Ridge!

Our traditional campfire display was back, with our Scouts putting their outdoor skills to work cooking fresh scones over the fire to share with the community.

Our Venturers and Rovers also lent a hand supporting Hummingbird House, helping raise funds for the incredibly important work they do for Queensland children and families.

Behind the scenes, our members were also busy supporting our amazing neighbours and friends from across McPherson Park, the Bracken Ridge Lions Club, who put an enormous amount of work into coordinating Backyard Bonanza each year.

A huge thank you to our Group Patron, Cr Sandy Landers, Brisbane City Council, the Lions and all of the wonderful sponsors and volunteers who help make this fantastic event accessible and affordable for our local community.

CUB CAMP

Over the weekend, our Tuesday Cub Scouts (ages 8–10) enjoyed a fantastic camp at Tyamolum Scout Campsite.

The Cubs packed plenty of adventure into the weekend, including bushwalking, games, a campfire and some delicious fire cooking. Lunch was a classic sausage sizzle, followed by ice cream cone s’mores cooked over the fire!

Camps like these are a great opportunity for our Cubs to build confidence, independence and friendships while having plenty of fun outdoors.

A BIG thank you to all our Leaders and parents who gave their time and helped make the weekend possible. Our adventures simply couldn’t happen without our wonderful volunteers.
