SLD Projects
Sydney Builder specialising in New Residential Homes, Renovations + Extensions, with a focus on qual
Still one of our most talked about kitchens - and for good reason.
Some of the details that make Project Maple feel so special:
The concrete island with no sink:
Controversial… but one of the best decisions we made. It keeps the island clean, uninterrupted and far more functional for entertaining and everyday living.
The splashback window:
The natural light completely transforms the space throughout the day and makes the kitchen feel open and connected to the outdoors.
Minimal overhead cupboards:
This was very intentional. It keeps the space feeling lighter, larger and less visually cluttered.
Dulux White Cabbage Green cabinetry:
A subtle muted green that adds warmth and personality while still feeling timeless.
Venetian plaster rangehood and wall:
Adds softness, texture and contrast against the cleaner lines of the joinery.
Integrated appliances:
Everything feels seamless, neat and tidy
Playful kickboards and feature lighting:
Small details that add personality, warmth and another layer of interest without overpowering the space.
Curved detailing throughout:
From the island to the rangehood, the curves soften the space and tie into the rest of the home beautifully.
This kitchen was designed to not only look beautiful , but to genuinely improve the way the home feels to live in.

Most people think they’re saving money when they choose the lowest quote.
But what looks cheaper upfront often leaves out key details:
- Missing allowances.
- Vague scope.
- Unrealistic assumptions.
And one of the biggest things to watch is allowances.
Allowances should be kept to a minimum. The more that’s left as an allowance, the more uncertainty you’re carrying into construction. This is what proper pre-construction planning is for!
If you’re comparing quotes right now, don’t just ask “How much?”
Ask things like:
- What exactly is included in this price?
- What’s excluded that I’ll need to pay for later?
- Have as many items as possible been finalised, rather than left as allowances?
Those answers will tell you far more than the price ever will.

Before the build begins, there’s a lot that happens behind the scenes.
Reviewing engineering, levels, and site constraints.
Refining layouts so the home flows effortlessly.
Aligning design vision with budget, without compromising what matters most.
Coordinating consultants, selections, and documentation.
Thinking through construction details before they become problems on site.
It’s a layered process. Part design, part problem-solving, part planning.
Done well, it means fewer surprises, better decisions, and a smoother build.
This is the work you don’t always see…but it’s what shapes everything that follows.

It’s often the smallest details that quietly shape how a home feels.
A handle you touch every day.
A joinery line that sits perfectly.
A finish that catches the light just right.
These are the moments we spend time thinking about in the design process, because great homes aren’t just about big ideas.
They’re built through hundreds of thoughtful little decisions.

We intentionally limit the number of homes we build each year.
Not to be exclusive.
But to make sure every project gets the time, care, and attention it deserves.
Designing and building a custom home is a deeply personal process.
Our job is to guide it well.
And that takes focus.
Every great home works perfectly because of what’s hidden behind the walls.
This is the rough-in stage where the framework starts to function and your home truly begins to take shape
Get the rough-in right, and everything that follows , flows seamlessly.

Most people think glazing is just “glass”.
In reality, it affects how warm your home feels in winter, how it performs in summer, how much light it lets in, and how comfortable it is to live in.
Yes it can be an investment, but it is one of those decisions that’s invisible when done well, but impossible to ignore when it’s not.
Building a custom home with a pool?
Make sure you talk to your builder about these important aspects that will make all the difference.
As we wrap up the year, there’s been meaningful progress across a number of sites.
Project Normanhurst reflects that momentum. A rewarding way to finish the year.
Proud of the work, appreciative of the people behind it, and excited for the year ahead.

The scaffold is set to come down soon, giving us the first real look at the form and detailing we have been working toward.
Until then, here is a look from both the ground and the sky.
