What the ATO can see 👀
The ATO’s data matching is more advanced than most people realise.
It pulls from banks, platforms, property data and more.
This isn’t about being scared, it’s about being prepared.
When your books are in order, there’s nothing to stress about.

Accurate record keeping protects more than tax outcomes.
It strengthens fraud prevention, improves audit readiness and provides clarity over cash flow.
Strong foundations reduce exposure.
Protection begins with structure.

Automation is fantastic... until compliance gets left behind.
As payroll systems become smarter and businesses look for ways to save time, it's important to remember that automation can't come at the cost of compliance.
The good news? You don't have to choose between the two.
With the right systems, processes and checks in place, you can streamline your payroll while still meeting your superannuation obligations and avoiding costly mistakes.

At the Council of Small Business Organisations Australia roadshow today 2 topics were discussed
● Cyber Security
● Industrial Relations
These are the two aspects of small business that carry the biggest risk factors.
It was wonderful hearing all the different scenarios and questions. Congratulations to the speakers Elizabeth and Mike, Adele and of course Oliver. Highly recommend Cyber Wardens information and the Business Peak platform that COSBOA have for any queries you may have around these topics.

A big shout out also to the ACCI for facilitating today!

So grateful to have had the opportunity to chat with the Cert IV students at TAFE recently. A huge thank you to the team for having me in and creating space for these conversations.
We spoke about what choosing bookkeeping as a career can really look like beyond the numbers. From supporting businesses behind the scenes and building strong client relationships, to problem-solving, compliance, systems, and being part of a team that helps businesses thrive. There are so many different pathways within the industry.
What I loved most was seeing the engagement in the room. The students asked some fantastic questions and brought so much curiosity and enthusiasm to the conversation.
Sharing real experiences from inside a bookkeeping practice and giving students a glimpse into the opportunities this industry can offer is something I’m always happy to be part of.
Looking forward to more opportunities to connect with and support the next generation entering the finance industry.

The letter nobody wants.
A Failure to Lodge penalty doesn’t care how busy life’s been.
It doesn’t matter that the BAS was nearly done, or that things got pushed back.
It starts at $313 every 28 days and keeps adding up until it’s lodged.
Most people I see didn’t even realise the clock had started.
If this is sitting in the back of your mind, you’re not alone 🤍
You can download my free resource with 10 simple checklists to help you stay on top of things moving forward.
And if you’re ready for support from someone who looks beyond the numbers and actually helps you stay in control, I’m always here for a chat.
