Season's greetings and a final post from Team Drapery!
Here we are (L-R Jane, Fiona & Lauren) at our end-of-year picnic, which we'd promised to do for several years and finally managed when we were no longer doing Christmas retail.
We want to send our most sincere thanks to everyone who wrote such beautiful comments and emails to us, regarding The Drapery's closure and what the shop has meant to you over the years. We're very sorry we did not reply to all of you personally. It was all a bit overwhelming, alongside having only about a month to return the shop to an empty, clean and repainted shell. We read and loved every single message and composed many replies in our minds that were never sent ❤.
Sewing people really are the best people, and it has been a pleasure and a privilege to be a part of all of your sewing lives across ten years. We wish you all a peaceful festive season and new year. May you continue to be blessed with creative community and the solace of stitching.

It’s our final trading day tomorrow (Sat 21/10, noon - 4pm). In addition to the small amount of fabric remaining, we also have some vintage sewing paraphernalia and shop fittings up for grabs, so feel free to pop by and make us an offer. Thanks again for your incredible support over the last few weeks. ❤️ - Fiona & Jane.

Apologies from Jane who has the spicy cough and says please be understanding with Fiona who is handling this week by herself! xx

Thank you all so, so much for all of your incredibly lovely messages and emails after our last post. We’ve been overwhelmed by your kindness, your visits and your orders. We can’t say thanks enough, and will respond more personally when time allows. We can now confirm that we will be closing our online shop as well as our Adelaide premises: exact dates to follow depending on stock levels, but it’s likely to be in the next fortnight. A lot of our fittings and fixtures are up for sale too, so please feel free to pop in for a visit and make us an offer in store. We encourage anyone with unused vouchers to use them now while we can still honour them. There are still some lovely fabrics available, including these new - heavily discounted - Japanese pieces that tiptoed through the door last week. xx Fiona, Jane & Lauren.

With a big deep breath, we would like to let you all know that we have decided to close The Drapery. It’s been a difficult decision, but the best one for us. We’ve had an incredible ten years, met so many beautiful people and had a lot of fun along the way. We’ll be finishing up at our Fullarton premises toward the end of October. The ongoing status of our online store is still not confirmed. We will honour all outstanding gift vouchers until we close. More details to follow, but for now we just want to say thanks to our wonderful loyal customers for all the chats, laughs and shared love of fabric. Much love, Fiona, Jane & Lauren xx

On the blog: pants you can move in? With a really low-stress zip fly insertion method? HECK YES. It's the Papercut Strata pattern and you can read all about it here: https://bit.ly/3RELO15

The good news about this garment is that the Cotton Cambric sewed like a dream. The bad news is that the sizing is vast (oops, didn't make a muslin). This is the Sew House Seven Remy Raglan pattern with gathered sleeve add-on. From multiple reports the sizing of the 'curve' range is kinda weirdly excessive and even in the 'regular' range, people are sizing down. I live, you learn 😅
