Grassroots soccer in Queensland is reaching a breaking point, as a new fee structure leaves 150 local clubs facing massive financial shocks.

A little context to go with previous statement to help everyone understand why clubs are so worried about the changes.
You probably saw on the news that fees will be increasing this year, we are never a fan of raising fees, especially this big of a jump, but it's not just higher fees that is the problem, it's how they are being structured.
* The club now has a much higher financial risk when entering teams, so we might have to consider getting rid of payment plans and demanding all fees up front.
* Having to pay earlier means we have to reconsider our off-season costs, field and club maintenance or buying new equipment so we have enough cash reserves
* The new fee structure incentivises larger teams, which means less game time per player

This means more work for our already overloaded volunteers as we try to understand how to manage these changes.

All of the clubs are coming together to try to get Football Queensland to understand our concerns and work with us. Most clubs are too scared to risk publicly speaking out about our problems with Football Queensland because their normal reaction is to threaten to ban any individual or club meaning all the work we have put into building up our community would be lost.

Acacia Ridge FC would like to announce our QPL coaching team for the 2027.
Rob Parfitt will take on the full time role as head coach after re-joining the club last year as an Assistant coach for the squad Rob stepped up as Interim head coach for the final 7 games of the season and got some great results with a young inexperienced Squad and earned the right to lead them in 2027. Rob was a former first team player at the club and since hanging up the boots has coached at a number of levels.
Jacyn Colefax will return to the club as U23's coach after standing down from his role as joint head coach last year for personal reasons Jacyn will return to the role he loves best in helping develop the next generation of players for the club. Like Rob, Jacyn was also a former first team player at the club with both playing in the same side. The club hopes they can bring success as a coaching team just as they did as team mates at the club.

More than 100 clubs have come together with one clear message: major decisions affecting players, families, volunteers and community clubs must be transparent, properly explained and developed through genuine consultation.
Our clubs may represent different communities, regions and competitions, but we are united in asking Football Queensland to:
• Pause the proposed 2027 Competition Access Fee model
• Pause the current Affiliation Agreement process
• Provide full financial transparency
• Consult meaningfully with affected clubs
• Work with clubs toward a fair and sustainable way forward
This is not about resisting change. It is about ensuring that change is reasonable, properly planned and does not place unfair costs, risks or administrative burdens on families and volunteer-run clubs.
We remain committed to working constructively with Football Queensland for the benefit of everyone involved in our game.
Together, our clubs are stronger. Together, our voices must be heard.
