Our Blue Light Shearing Program is about more than getting the job doneβ€”it’s about creating opportunities, building skills, and supporting wellbeing in our rural communities.

By bringing people together, sharing knowledge, and providing hands-on experience, we’re helping develop confidence, strengthen connections, and invest in the future of the shearing industry.

A great day out at Blue Lures Somerset on 20 June at Cormorant Bay. 🎣

While the fish weren’t biting this time, there was still plenty of fun, learning and connection. We welcomed some new friends, and for two of our participants it was their very first time fishing, which made the day even more special.

Blue Lures is about more than just catching fish. It is about getting young people outdoors, building confidence, learning new skills, creating positive connections and enjoying time with police, volunteers and community members in a relaxed and supportive environment.

A big thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the day such a positive experience.

A huge congratulations to the students from Sacred Heart Sandgate on finishing their Blue EDGE Program! πŸ’™

Blue EDGE is designed to help young people build confidence, resilience, teamwork, leadership and positive decision-making, while also strengthening positive relationships with police and other community role models.

To celebrate the completion of the program, students enjoyed a fantastic Final EDGE day packed with fun, connection and well-earned rewards.

A very special thank you to Sgt Bob McDonald from the Queensland Police Service for his support of the program, and to Sandgate PCYC for helping support young people through this important opportunity.

Well done to all students involved β€” you should be very proud of your effort, growth and the way you represented your school throughout the program. πŸ‘πŸ’™

What an awesome way to finish the Blue EDGE program!

To celebrate the students completing their Blue EDGE journey, Trinity Bay SHS took part in their Final EDGE reward day with a Yirrganydji Coastlines Low Tide Walk at Yule Point.

The day included a Welcome to Country and safety briefing, followed by a guided cultural and ecological walk through the mangroves and sand bars. Students learnt about Country, the local ecosystem, traditional practices and cultural connections, while also taking part in hands-on activities with bamboo spears.

The day finished with lunch and reflection at Wangetti Beach, giving everyone the chance to relax, connect and celebrate the effort, teamwork and commitment shown throughout the program.

A big congratulations to all Trinity Bay SHS Blue EDGE participants. You should be very proud of what you have achieved.

We love receiving feedback from parents like this! πŸ’™

"I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone involved in the Blue Edge program. Grant and Matt have done an outstanding job, and the positive impact they have had on the students has been remarkable. Both of my children, participated in the program at Dunwich State School and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Blue Edge is a fantastic initiative that promotes fitness, health, and wellbeing while also fostering meaningful relationships, a strong sense of community, and positive connections between students and local Police. The excursion day to town and the gift of new shoes were also greatly appreciated. These generous experiences create lasting memories for the children and are highly valued by both the students and their families. Please extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved. Programs like Blue Edge make a genuine difference, and I hope it continues for many years to come, given the significant benefits it provides to the students of Dunwich State School"

None of this happens without funding, and we're so grateful to Phoenix Lifestyle for investing in these young people. Thank you for your support!
