Aribert Reimann is often associated with the post-war generation of complex, serious composers. This episode analyzes how his works, including his re-imaginings of earlier masters, function as a form of "modern clothing" for established compositions. We explore how these arrangements can serve as an entry point for listeners to engage with his more abstract output, evaluating whether this approach bridges the gap between historical and contemporary styles.
